DIY Turbo Mini One(with 6spd Cooper S Gbox)

Hi!

I have read a lot of post talking about putting a turbo on a mini onecooper.

However in most case people are limited because of the gearbox!!

I already sorted that out.. i have a cooper s gearbox in my mini one(the 163 bhp),.

So.. forgetting that Major problem.... What are the implications of putting a turbo on my mini...

I was actually thinking on buying my own parts(using some kit references) and make my own turbo kit(just to be a lot cheaper).

What do i need to have attention??

This car is a car that i use everyday... and i don't want the fuel consumptions excessively high!

Well if thats out of your budget then the turbo will be too as thats going to be the more expensive route

What he said ^^ especially when a cooper S engine second hand is peanuts compared to a turbo kit.

But on top of the engine from the S you need a host of other bits too including Bonnet (for the scoop), & new front panel. Then you'll need to reposition the battery in the boot. There is a full list on here somewhere of what's required, but it's not insignificant as the engine bay layout is very different on the S.

The internals of the Mini One and Cooper will take the turbo but only on low boost.

My brother is about to put a set of quad throttle bodies on his Mini One from Mini Matt, it should be around the 200bhp mark, plus the sound of those things are to die for!

Maybe take a look down that route!

Alex

or why not supercharge the one engine, pointless, but cheap. I only suggest that as a couple of guys on the SEAT site have recently supercharged their mk2 ibiza Gtis using the MCS supercharger and it was relatively DIY and cheap. but exepnsive if you want loads of powr

That sounds interesting... very interesting indeed!
