air to air GRS motorsport vs. GT Tuning vs. Alta V2 intercoolers - which is best?

i've had a look through threads in here and haven't seen any direct comparisons between the aftermarket intercooler designs out there - the GRS, GTT intercoolers (air tunring through 90 degrees, larger intercoolers) as a pose to the alta version 2 & m7 dfic 2 intercoolers (air travelling directly through intercooler from bonnet scoop-?less pressure drop&more boost?; different design).
has anyone tried 2 or three of the above and what have they found?
i'm running a GP intercooler at the moment. the bellows still feel hot even on cool days. car has a 19% pulley.
you can also post post which intercooler you run in the poll.
GRS definitely have the popular vote in the UK!

I run the GP I/C as I want the stock look when the bonnet is lifted, but if I was to changed to any other A2A if would be the GRS I/C as it is the best A2A on the market.

If I was you though running a 19% pulley I would be looking at a charge cooler (W2A)

P.S have you put the syntol racing oil in yet?

out of the top mount top feeds (not difc) nothing is a patch on the GRS, the M7 difc is also well worth it, esp combined with the aero gel shield and temp paint.

Don't know if you've read this Sy, but if you haven't it's a good, if not long, read

MINI COOPER :: North American Motoring - M7 vs Alta intercooler, what one and why?

Lies need defending all the time. The truth defends itself.

yes i have put the syntol in - i'm expecting the car to travel through time with your magic oil in it. the car's at lohen at the moment - they're fitting an exedy clutch & alta short shifter, and did the oil service at the same time.

charge coolers are expensive, i figured i'd only do that if i was tracking it regularly.

yes, i've read it, but again, no definitive actual figures, temps etc. and comparisons between all these intercoolers. i think the only way you'd know is to get a car with the necessary monitoring equipment and get people to come down with different intercoolers they have in their cars and switch each into the test car and get some definitive impartial evidence.

There hasn't been a proper engineering based test to compare the three you mention as far as I know, so I don't think anyone can tell you.

People can only tell you, which they think is best, which is almost always the one they have bought.

Why don't you ask the manufacturers, if they think theirs is the best, and if so why.

i thought about that- but for my part what i really want is some form of comparison. i suspect there's not a lot between grs's air to air and gt tuning's intercooler. similarly, i suspect there's little between m7's latest intercooler & specifically alta's version 2 air to air, as these two have a different design. it would be worth inviting GRS or GT tuning versus Alta or M7 to say why their respective intercooler my be preferable or better. GRS certainly have the popular vote in the UK. In the USA it seems to be M7's DFIC 2. that's very popular on NAM. So i guess we could ask GRS and M7 or perhaps FOM motorsports as they're site sponsors and sell the m7 intercooler to talk about the pros and cons of their respective products?

I also believe that Graham has posted up on here proper tests done on his cooler. Randy Webb in the states prooved the GRS was far better than the competition at the time.

Will get him to post the info
