From what I have heard they are awsome wheels. I really wanted them for my cougar. I have one friend who has them on his honda and has never bent a rim and lives on some BAD roads.
These wheels are awesome! my brother had this in his car (a different colour tho, which was bronze)
they are pretty light, and they looks nice!
however i think that they kinda looks better on japs car than euro car (just what i think, but u can put on anything as long as it nice)
they are very rare in my country which is australia so my brother always have to worry about people stealing it
Volk TE37 is one of the best wheel. It's used by the Nissan GT-R crowd a lot (if you have no idea what a GT-R is, then do a search on the Internet, you'll be amaze by that car). TE37 is a forged wheel, very very strong, very light. It's also mighty expensive as you will find out if you haven't already. I toyed with the idea of getting one, but just can't justify the price. I love the looks of it too, but as Eric said, it's probably more Jap than Euro. BTW Eric, there are plenty of 200sx, GT-R and GT-T around melbourne with the TE37.
Rays Engineering (Volks) are some of the highest quality made wheels. Super popular in Japan and as nearly popular in the states with the import crowd. Here's a link to their webpage:
SSR Competition is a really good looking wheel. They're popular with BMW autocrossers.
You don't see them as much as I would have thought. I think there is a sense that they're not as strong as the Volks. For the MINI, I'm not sure it would matter much.
By the way, there are other Volks to think about, like the GT-N, which is cheaper than the TE 37. Here is a GT-N on a Supra (again, this is not my car):
i guess they should be more popuplar in melbourne as i think they should.
havent really looked at cars in melbourne (in fact i havent been there much)
not much around in sydney tho.
so many thiefs in sydney
oddad,
Where did you get the weight and price for the CE28N at? The reason I ask is, I have recently asked a Mackin rep, the U.S. importer, on another web site several questions regarding these and other Volk wheels and have always found getting much info out of them was like pulling teeth. After two tries they did tell me the 17x7.5 4x100 +42 weighed about 13 lbs. but still did not tell me the price even though they have told others what the list price is on some of the other wheels they have. Seems like they are trying to keep the price of the CE28N under wraps. The TE37 in that size lists for $565 and I have found TE37's discounted up to 22% but not recently because of the $ v. Yen thing. I haven't hunted down the best price yet but several places will do -15%.
I listed this wheel as the same 12.4 lb. weight you did but can't find the source again. Seems to me that when they are trying to appeal to the ultra light weight wheel market they could do better than say "about 13 lbs.". Some of this inexactness may come from the fact that on 5 lug wheels it has 10 spokes and on 4 lug wheels it has 8 but I did tell them exactly which wheel I was talking about.
