Changing Manifold On A Mini Cooper

Hello,

Does any one know how easy it is to change a manifold yourself? Are there many parts that have to be removed in order to allow the manifold to be removed or can it be accessed quite easily? I am thinking of changing my stock manifold to a quicksilver one. Anyone one who has changed their manifold or knows whats involved or where links/threads can be found it would be much appreciated. The same for people who have got them replaced and paid for it at a garage. How much did it cost to install? I have looked on the forum for a while and only find info about performace and comparisons nothing about instillation.

You can change the manifold on axle stands. However, it will make the job long and drawn out. Main issue is lack of space when working under the car on a driveway. Can be done though!

I’ve done this many times on my back with the vehicle on stands and have a tip not shown in Randy’s how-to. Get two intake manifold studs, remove the two outer head flange bolts and replace with the studs. The will provide hangers for the header and gasket, a convenient aid while doing the job solo.
