We sent the ECU back to them after the first dyno set of results for two reasons. 1 It only had 179 hp SAE 2 It was way too lean below 4000 and too rich above. They said it was fine and had produced 200 hp on their car and that they would send it back with the dyno sheet to proove it. The ECU turned up with no dyno sheet. It now gives us 177 hp SAE. The mixture is now within ball park figures so they must have changed something in it. Torque is 152 ft/lbs. I would be very interested to hear of other experiences with their ECU mod Targa MCS Tarmac Rally / MC / S2000 / Volvo T5 Wagon

Hi Michael, Digi-tec was tested in Sport Auto (against a MCS tuned by Kelleners) and in Tuning Scene (against MCS's tuned by Kelleners, SKN and Maxi-tuner), both German car magazines. In both tests Digi-tec got the votes. I've attached the test results. Note, that apart from reprogramming the ECU, the Digi-tec test-car also had the Digi-tec exhaust system. From these tests the Digi-tec kit doesn't look too bad. I'm however a bit worried after hearing your experiences with their kit. Think I'll wait for the Hamann or Hartge upgrade instead.

The ECU Myth I think that it would be possible to tune the standard ECU to close to 200hp. If each individual car was put on the Dyno and individually tuned for optimum spark and fuel ratio to suit it's exhaust, inlet, fuel etc then I think it can be done. This obviously requires time on the dyno and naturally would have to be done by the supplier (who has the codes to vary the parameters). Just bolting in a tweaked ECU is only ever going to be a bit of a hit or miss affair. Certainly our car drives fine and is quicker than standard. For the money it's an OK mod. Incidently we are running a nice inlet cold air system with a set of headers and a tuneable (back pressure) Supertrap exhaust. The dyno runs were done with them in place. Thanks for the interesting post with the article. It will be interesting to see what the factory comes out with under their name or John Coopers. Does any one know where the "Official" performance mod is at now? It it going to happen? When? or will BMW (MINI) just release a "Hot" S?? Targa MCS Tarmac Rally / MC / S2000 / Volvo T5 Wagon

QQQ, josss and me have tested the Digi-Tec S last saturday, and i can say from the bottom of my heart it's the best car I've ever driven. The performance is enormous, much better than even my CTR, and the sports suspension is a must have!!!!! 50 mm lower than original and it had a better ride than the original setup!!! A full report will be published here when I get the time, with lots of pics. Here's one to wetten the appetite: ![]()

Big, You can do both, of course when you order a complete package you should be able to get a nice discount. For example, engine upgrade (€ 1,249), exhaust (€699) suspension kit (€ 1,249 and an absolute must!) and a two year/100.000 km warranty (€ 215 on both engine and drive train!) retail seperately for a total amount of € 3,414 (approx. GBP 2,200). If you get them all together you should be able to get near to € 3,000 (approx. GBP 1,935).

Don't exactly know what you mean there rasp Let me tell you this, if Hartge would provide the car we drove last saturday to a carmag journalist for a head-to-head against the digi-tec MCS, I'm absolutely sure both the digi-tec MCS and the journalist would slaughter the Hartge MCS. As I have posted several times before, I had great confidence in the Hartge MCS, but I'm sorry to say that their demo didn't come up to my expectations (to say the least) and I really can't make more out of it. Maybe if Hartge had a proper demo, the choice would have been different, but I don't think it would as after driving both cars, I believe digi-tec just makes the better product

| QQQ Well I think that the performance figures stand out for themselves and untill a tuner comes up with anything anywhere near to the Hartge upgrade then I for one am not interested, I think you have had a bad experience on one testdrive with Hartge and as far as your concerned thats it, how can so many people that have had the Hartge upgrade be so very very wrong with the outcome of there cars, I for one am so very impressed with the outcome and have not had any of these very bad reports that you have mentioned, dont get me wrong QQQ its very interesting reading other peoples views on different upgrades but this particular car must have been a dog to be this bad!!
