DIY One Ball Cooper S Exhaust - Sounds sweet!

Dropped my car off at my local powerflow dealer in Hove today, £90 and an hour or so later and i left a very happy boy with a noticeabley louder (not too loud) exhaust which is very raspy and murmurs alot when lifting off the accelerator. Not bad for removing a back box.

I considered buying the GTT re-route pipe but got this guy to fabricate his own pipe.

I'm really please with it in terms of cost and result as i couldn't justify a new exhaust system for however many £hundreds.

I'll take some pics later but this is what made me do it. His replacement pipe is around 90degrees but i believe mine is less angled.

Hi guys,

Don't want to be a party pooper, but I had exactly the same mod on my R53 mcs (48k). One ball had been done for a few months without aparent problem (although boomy on the motorway) and then she just blew the single box to bits!!! The pressed seam around the middle openend up like a sardine can - not through corrosion, just the pressure 'un-peeled' the lot. I crimped it all back together and sealed it, only for it to go again a couple of weeks later.
I have now binned the system and gone stainless.
Don't know if this is a common problem, but keep an eye on that seam.
