poor performance after pulley install????

Hello, Everyone.

I have a 2005 MCS with about 85,000mi. I have added an alta cai, and an msd ignition coil, and a 15% pulley(with cooler plugs). The car was running pretty good after the msd upgrade(immediate hp increase) so I thought the pulley would give even better results. So far after the pulley install (3000 mi.) I have noticed a reduction in gas mileage and the car seems to take longer to spool up and doesnt seem to have as much torque as before. I was getting about 27 before now about 25.5. I have not changed my driving habits. If anything I am driving a little slower because just doesnt feel lively any more. Only feel a real increase on cool misty days because of the denser air. I did the pulley myself so its possible i could have forgot to connect something but dont think so.

I did get new tires. I was running 215 40 17 nonrf and changed to 215 45 17nrf so increased weight but wouldnt think this would make that big of a difference.

The install requires the ecu and battery to be disconnected so it should have reset itself with the new pulley by now.

It also seems to have to rev a lot higher to get up to speed. I used to not have to rev much above 4500rpm now find myself having to go to about 6000 rpm.
Maybe I just need to run the heck out of it for a while.

Maybe i am just jaded or expected more but just feels like my car is lacking that spark or sizzle it had. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Eric

Can you check first if the rubber boots in the intercooler ends are not leaking?
Very strange bec. a reduced s/c pulley is the best upgrade for the money. Second, is the belt slipping? Check the tensioner too.

is your temperature gauge showing that the engine is slightly hotter?could be that you need a intercooler as this would help the engine to stay cooler, me personaly wouldnt be able to say if it is or not but im sure someone else on here will be able to give you a helping hand.

The engine temp gauge will tell you nothing as to regards the need for a bigger intercooler - you would need to monitor the IAT via a scan gauge or equivalent.

Did you fit a shorter belt when you fitted the 15% pulley - if not there is a chance that the belt is slipping and giving you the faults you are seeing. Loose snoot boots is also a possibility.

+1 for what Snowie said... If you did not install a smaller belt, it is probably slipping causing a loss of power. I have been running a 17% pulley on a stock intercooler for the last few days and I can now openly say there is no need for a larger intercooler unless you are running WOT on a track. My car is nothing but a daily driver and the temp difference from ambient to IA is 13 degrees.... The temp does jump up but is quick to come back down (seconds). The hype on a daily driver non track for a larger IC is just that, hype.

Belt slipping, intercooler boots leaking, bypass valve not closing properly. Check them all
