GTT 260 rquired info !!!

Hello there, I have recently purchased a 2003 Mini cooper S which has been declared to have the Gtt260 kit. This car was int he UK,Kent if not mistaken.Ive bought this now myself and i reside in Malta.

I would like to know what should i look at on the engine bay to confirm it actually is the 260 kit.The intercooler and airfilter ive seen already, together with the strutbraces. Anything else i could look at guys?

Thanks in advance

Matthias

Try contacting GT Tuning directly? I'm sure they could confirm. You may want to message Roland right here on the forums.

It's not this car by any chance is it??

It was owned by a member on here called Blown the Doors Off, he lives in Kent & was selling the car a while back, pretty sure it was a GTT260 bhp.

Have a look at his post history for more info on the car

Cheers

John

I met the old owner a while back & bought his GRS intercooler from him (he changed to a GTT one), he was a nice guy and an enthusiast owner. After the meet we had a quick blast on our local motorway then went our own ways home, it's a very quick car that looked like it had been well looked after.

Just found his advert when he had it up for sale, a very impressive spec list .

I'm sure you will enjoy it

Thanks for the info Hartge210.. I am very happy with it..Im really looking forward to have it dynoed to see what bhp it is running. Im really happy with the handling of this car espeically since the quality of the tarmac on the maltese roads is really hopeless.Tarmac shines everywhere.Another think i hope they do in Malta is one day get proper fuel as they only offer 87 ron to us..They declare its 95 but thats just elephant poop..private tests state its 87ron..Not to nice for the car to be running on such low quality fuel..

I was concerned at first with the amber engine light coming on but i was pleased to read on these forums that if the car is modded then it should be a lean working car thus triggering the amber engine light to switch on..

I now want to get rid of the airbag light which is on.Im guessing its on because the seats where replaced to Leather JCW ones so no airbags in them to sense from the airbag sensor on the car

Im also interested to buy the big brake conversions (brembo/porsche).Therr arent any available in malta, Any website u guys can recommend to get a set of these?and whats the average cost?

Ive tried contacting roland both through this site and his own website but no response. Id really like to hear his comments about the car.

Glad you like the car, shame about your fuel over there, hope it doesn't effect the power too much.

You may have to get your friendly dealer to reset the airbag light (you can buy a tool to do this from ebay as well). I fitted the same seats in my car & the light is on, but it doesn't effect the mot over here so I'm not too worried.

I've got a full set of R56 JCW Brembos on my car, paid around £650 for them, that's a little cheap compared to some prices over here.

Ebay can be a good source for parts like this
BMW MINI COOPER R53 & R56 JCW BREMBO BIG BRAKE KIT on eBay (end time 12-Apr-10 11:38:53 BST)

Keep us updated about the car and how you get on with the dyno session & also post up some photos

Cheers

John

Those are some sweet brakes you've got there. It shouldnt be a problem to have that kit u sent me via link on mine as mine should have spacers on and has the braided lines already.

Im sure the 87ron isnt playing a fair part to the car but oh well..thats Malta..Might enhance it with some octane booster every now and again if that really helps although im abit sceptical about these boosters

I tried posting pics but it keeps telling me that they are too large...pffff..haha..

THe airbag doesnt effect our VRT (kind of MOT equivalent in Malta) but unfortunately in Malta people pick on anything to drop the price of the car when you are selling it..So the airbag light for them means its been crashed.

What bhp are you running on yours mate with what mods?.

Cheers mate,

I bought the car with the Hartge 210 tuning package already fitted (remap+ 15% pulley), also got a Milltek manifold & exhaust, GRS intercooler (the one that was on your car) & also recently fitted a Dave F Hybrid airbox (K & N filter in an enclosed standard looking box). We get fuel up to 99 ron over here which helps. Recently dynoed at 225 bhp (196 whp), I fitted the Dave F after the dyno run & as the new airbox has been known to give + 5 bhp I probably should be around 230 bhp.

If you're really into MINI tuning etc. try Mini Torque a forum with some great info on all aspects of modding & some VERY powerful cars on there as well.

It's a pleasure Buddy

Nice to see that a UK car is still on the scene & doing well in good hands of the new owner

Oh and i also hope that when i find some parts i wanna buy i will find a kind soul who will quote me a price and ship/post them to me as unfortunately (ive seen this on many forums)many people consider Malta as a scamming country which we definately arent. I mean you find the odd case here and there but can anyone say that everyone is clean in the UK for instance? highly doubt it. Unfortunately minis in malta are relatively expensive. I bought this mini for the equivalent value of 13,800 sterling..Which when you compare it to how much they sell for in the Uk thats a bloody lot..We have extreemly hefty 1st registration fees in malta..BTW a new cooper s here would cost around 40,000 euros..and that is not a joke my dear friends

Yeah, heard that too, as you say, the minority spoil it for the majority. You've got a long way to go before you get as bad as Nigeria though.

£13,800 , i remember when this was being advertised, he dropped the price a couple of times to sell it. I think that was the reason he took off most of the 'Mini Challenge' style graphics. Never did find out what it finally sold for....maybe you don't want to know though.

I've got a few more photos if you want to see them?

Yeah sure..please post them...1st registration until last year on a mini was something like 10,000 euro..thats just a first registration. Now its less hefty..But you gotta consider that the car is been here in malta for just over a year already..and comparing the price of the mini i bought with all the money spent on mods on it which i calculated costed something like 9000 euro in all i got a very good deal as a standar cooper s..early model with tonnes of miles are selling for like 12,000 euro..So i consider mine a bargain for the Maltese market..A total fluke if i compare it to the uk market..haha i should transfer myself to the UK

BTW how much is the yearly circulation tax (license fee in Malta)on a mini cooper S?
Hope to see those pics soon :P
