Custom exhuast on R53 Mini JCW

Hi guys, a few days ago i was really exited as my exhaust system was being fitted by a local custom exhaust shop Stebro. Since the JCW exhaust was a bit too quite and removeing the resonator was a big mistake for nice sound!

I called up Dan at Stebro made me a good deal on a full 2.5 inch cat back stainless steel system.

What i got was a 2.5 inch with resonator and 2 big (5x10x11) open chambered mufflers with decent looking exhaust tips. the system sounded great on the outside however when inside the car nothing, zip, quieter than quiet!

I felt so conflicted about this! I want to hear it!! otherwise what's the point! so I called Dan and we talked about the sound. he recommended to strip out the resonator as a first step but giving my last experience with the resonator delete on the JCW i did not really want to go down that road and something about an incomplete system just does not feel right for me.

Finally I talked to Dan the owner and he recomended 2 4inch bullets. Borla uses 5 inch! this was a terrible mistake! the sound is unbearable i could not even drive the car for too long my ear drums are still hurting today!

So now i am in talks again with Dan to see what is the next step, he is really making me feel bad about my decision of not just removing the resonator. but I'm still not convinced that it's the only way.

any thoughts? opinions? or suggestions based on experience with this?

Thanks in advance!

I don't know what the bullets are, but I've fitted a new exhaust-manifold to go with the JCW cat-back. Went for the Janspeed with the race catalyser. Lots of noise in the higher rpms, but fairly quiet in everyday-use
You might want to talk about that with your custom exhaust guy
