Hi all
just recently i had a problem with a lot of noise coming from the driver side of my John Cooper Works
MCS (R53) engine and found that the pulley on the side of the supercharger had nearly come off. the reason was that the bearing inside the casing attached to a shaft which is attached to the pulley had gone and had shaken the pulley loose.

i have hard decisions to make. i could buy a new supercharger but that`s £1000 plus and then they have to install it.
or find a used or reconditioned one. easier said than done, especially with a John Cooper Works one.
a third option is to unbolt that part of the supercharger casing, remove it and see if the bearing can be replaced, since i`m a precision engineer it might be possible if the bearing hasn`t blown into pieces and into the oil.
does anyone know of anyone who does reconditioned superchargers?
i can find the odd used one but it`s a lottery buying them as you never know if they are ok or in as bad a condition as mine.
in the meantime we are going to see if it can be repaired. the odd thing is it hasn`t even done 60k mileage.
regards
Kris
