Airbox/filter

Hi, do these DaveF airbox and other types actually give much in the way of power or are they just for the sound? I heard someone say a DaveF is worth 18bhp!!!
Has anyone got 1st hand of any dyno results or something? I can understand the replacement panel filter giving a bit and yes maybe slight gain with the mod but my guess is 5bhp with the lot. The standard filter box already has a cold feed to it anyway.
I just remember back to to old school tuning days when the airbox was a complete joke, sucking air in from the exhaust manifold and changing that would'nt give 18bhp.
I understand if its just the sound folk like tho

18 bhp!! They must have been dreaming

I saw Dave himself fit one of his hybrids at a dyno day a few years back, from memory it made 5 or 6 extra bhp against the stocker
