MC Dyno results This is from last weeks Helix Minisports Dyno Day - www.helix13.com The only modification I have done is to put the Rogue Engineering exhaust on. Since this is the first I dyno'd the car, I don't have a comparison to what the stock exhaust would yield. I suspect there is no real gain, but the car does feel like it has more grunt. The exhaust was installed at around 6000 miles. I'm holding off on a cold air intake until I see some comparison tests in Grassroots Motorsports or another publication. Since it's still a fairly young aftermarket here in the States, I can wait a bit.

I was the only one with a Cooper that day, the others were all Cooper S. Helix13 did have a modified Cooper of their own that had previous dyno test, mine did okay against theirs.

What is the average power at the wheels considered to be? Seems like those are pretty good numbers, maybe an exhuast is worth it after all? 03 IB/W MC - ss plus, sports package, moon roof, and white bulldog/blue collar, name: cooper. cruise control is NOT motoring.

Not sure about average power to the wheels from the factory, but the general consensus that day was that mine seemed a bit better than stock. Then again, I have heard that the factory numbers are underrated. And in the next issue of Grassroots Motorsports, they are supposed to have results of exhaust testing. The guys at Helix didn't think the Rogue produced any power in those tests.

Dyno Tests Don't get too excited about comparing dyno test results. We have found great differences between dynos and even larger changes from day to day when the weather conditions change. The best use for a chassis dyno (unless you have one in a temperature and humidity controlled environment) is to compare changes and modifications done THAT DAY. It's a great tool if you test, do a modification and immediately test again, otherwise do what everybody else does and make sure you're comparing your apples to the other guy's old oranges!

It is hard to compare dyno charts...especially from a Mustang Dyno. Most places use a Dynojet (248 model I think???) and comparing two of those will be a lot closer. But it is good to get a baseline number so you can see what your mods are actually doing for your car. On The Loose On The Web: www.johnnyboy.ca

Am I just misreading the chart, or does torque and hp drop off at 5300 and 6500 rpms? Do you have a CVT, or is something else going on, since the car doesn't fuel cutoff until higher I thought....(and least on my 5sp...) Magic 8-ball was correct. All be in awe of Magic 8 ball.

5900 not 5300 edit: and in reality its past 5900 at around 6300 ish. Not right at 5900 03 IB/W MC - ss plus, sports package, moon roof, and white bulldog/blue collar, name: cooper. cruise control is NOT motoring. Last edited by lotuseatsvipers; Dec 28th, 2002 at 10:19 PM.

ddp, the results that you posted from your dyno run match pretty much what my baseline dyno from 11/11/02. I have added a Borla exhaust and Pipercross Viper Carbon Fibre CAI. I will be getting it dyno'd again about the middle of next month. I have been posting to this thread here on Mini2.com. Here is a copy of the best run of that day. ![]() You will notice that HP & torque both tail off after going from 5500 to 6000 rpm's. All of my runs tailed off at roughly the same rpm's. This dyno was run on a DYNAJET, don't know the exact model number. paddy @ "We will not tire, we will not falter, and we will not fail..." -- President George W. Bush - Sept. 20, 2001

paddy, I'll be curious to see how you dyno in the future, thanks for the link to the other thread, I had actually been following that one as well. Still wondering about my next step with an air intake.
