JCW exhaust, help needed.

Hi guys, need to replace my exhaust as my standard one is blowing, the car has the jcw aero kit fitted with jcw exhaust tips.

Now I'm wanting to get the jcw exhaust but I'm a little confused as to what I need to do this?

One company has told me I need just the back box along with tips and clamp to connect the front pipe to the jcw back box.

Where as another company has told me I would need all of the above plus a new front pipe which would result in spending an extra 258?

They are saying that the jcw back box won't fit the standard cooper s front pipe unless you replace it with the jcw one?

My bad ...

Thought your car had the JCW Tuning Kit.

MCS stock exhaust is one piece, so you need to buy both front and rear silencers and the clamp.

you are correct but the went to a two piece rear system for ease of repair

Dazza

you can fit the rear section of the JCW system with the standard mini cooper s second section ( from the cat back ) it can be cut just forward of the bend before the rear boxes, see link below item i cut at bend before rear box so you basically have a straight pipe.
you can fit the rear back boxes from the JCW exhaust you will need to expand the pipe so it slips on to the JCW back section easy job.
the cat back JCW has a resonator fitted in the centre where as the MCS has a straight throw pipe no biggie

is your system a standard MCS with jcw tips or is it a JCW system
also where is it blowing because there are other options staying with mini parts

look under the car does it look like this

Thank you for your detailed reply

The exhaust I have at the mo is the standard mcs system with jcw tips fitted. It is blowing on the second back box (item 2 on diagram) all around the seal that looks like it joins the top and botom half of the box together.

By one-piece I meant between the cat and rear silencers.

If you're replacing part 2 on the stock system you might as well make it a "one-ball" exhaust.

if you have the standard system you can buy item 2 and 16 (on the real oem link) on its own you can fit it to the rest of the system as is or do the one ball mod. if you don't want to buy new speak to MJR "mini matt"

just ask them for the back box. tell them you are doing a one ball mod they will know what you want

people like GTT do the link pipe for the one ball mod (one ball mod basically delete the the first box so you only run the second )
but any good exhaust place will be able to do this for you with ease i have used long life before.

Hi guys, bought a complete second hand jcw car back exhaust and went to fit it today, all went smoothly and very simple untill I went to remove the 2nuts that joins the cat to the front pipe, got one nut undo using a 9/16 spanner but the 2nd nut is already round. Going to be using mole grips tomorrow to remove it but now need a new pair of nuts, does anyone know what size nuts these are?

I wouldn't "one-ball" a JCW exhaust.

If you want more noise remove the center resonator or fit an exhaust manifold with a sport cat.
