It is supposed to be released at the Detroit Auto Show, which opens to the press tomorrow, and to the public next Saturday.

I'm hoping that they stick to the schedule!

Well I went in there yesterday and was told that it won't be released until March...

Something about legal issues and reliability testing by BMW to ensure it is okay for all markets. It may get announced from tomorrow I guess, but it may not be available to buy until the end of Q1. Still here's crossing my fingers.

JCW upgrade - March 03

I received an e mail from Richard de Jong (general manager JCW) on the 31st Dec. Quote -

"The situation with the S Conversion is a March launch and available through all dealers worldwide from approx April, costings and full spec to be available late Feb.
I would suggest a ballpark figure of £3750 fitted.
It does achieve 200BHP and is brilliant !!"

I hope this clears up the timing of its release

Steve, yes it is $$$$ing painful but I definitely must have more power....

I'm tempted by the Hartge conversion which comes in at CHF 3'370 all in (daehler.com).

I'm waiting for final price/spec of the JCW before making a decision. The full BMW warranty is pretty comforting.

Perhaps this should be considered??

The option below is probably the route I will take, all the options above seem a little expensive.I've used GGR before on my Impreza Turbo.

Power Upgrades : Graham Goode Racing
Mini Cooper S
200 BHP
GGR have now developed a conversion for the COOPER S raising the power from 161BHP in standard form to just over 200 BHP! Maximum torque has also been increased by over 35 LB/FT and more significantly, this is produced 500 RPM lower in the power band at 3565RPM. The conversion consists of a reprogrammed engine management system and modification of the supercharger transmission ratio. This conversion transforms the way the car performs, with improved throttle response and power throughout the rev range.
Part No. S200

Please contact GGR £999.00

Cordial, I'm waiting for more info like you. The JCW kit appeals, even at this sort of price. From what I've read on this site is is more than just a ECU and pulley upgrade - and the fact that it will be BMW backed is important to me too. I know that there are many other well reputed tuners and this is no slight on them. I'd just prefer a JC kit with a full BMW warranty.....

I'm not in too much of a hurry though. It is difficult enough getting 163 horses to grip in this weather - let alone >200

Hi Boo, long time no see

Another picture of your car and again it is spotless, just look at your wheels...I told you before, you sure keep your car clean! And I must admit that the white wheels looks absolutely fab on BRG
