Exhaust Hangers

Hi everyone, im looking to order an Exhaust for my Cooper in the next week or so. I remember a while back a problem with exhaust hangers changing. Does anybody know when these changes affect from? Mines a March 02 build car. How different are the new hangers?

hi loui,
exhaust hangers changed in Dec 01 from outwardly pointing fittment (like the photos in my gallery) to inward fitting, like your car. My car is Apr 02, but i had to nick a strap from a pre Dec01 car to fit them.
Who are you getting the pipe from? You should specify that yours is the new fitting, and tell them about the change of style.
the 4 mounting studs on the bottom of the car are in the same plave, but what changed was the hangers and the shape of the top strap that goes round th OEM backbox.
Most manufacturers have changed the design, howeversome may still have old stock of hte old fitting.

the old fitting will not fit the new mounting without significant alteration - so make sure the box has the right fittings

If its an early mini the rear hanger brackets point away from one'anotherif its the newer type then they point at each other

Thanks zoooom think i understand now. The hangers come from the side of the box pointing up then point towarrds each other in the carriers on the back of the car?
