R50 Short shift - what's the deal with this?

Could somebody describe what this does to my Cooper? Is it expensive and/or hard to fit?

Just trying to get the low down of things I'd like to do to my mini!

Thanks every one

Short shift used to mean moving the gear lever or reducing the stick length to make it easier to reach or less lever movement between gears so its more comfortable to drive.
Still generally means the same thing today.

Do a google search theres all about it on there

I use a short shift in my R50 from Helix. It's a quickish fit, just a machined ball to fit at the bottom of the gear stick. The end result is the gear stick moves less to change gear, perfect for rallying!
