I have been trying to track tis site administrator to tell him that his website is one of the best for mini tuning information.
And if you haven't seen this site yet, well you should!!
Ok now I'd like to help a bit the people that made this site by asking them a few things.
You should also post the Alpina version that has come out and there new upgrades.
I'm having trouble with the prices since some are in pounds some in dollars and some in euros. Please make only one currency...
One other thing is that I live in a european countrie and as you probably know we have strict laws on gas emissions, well I'd like to know wich mods or mufflers are legal and the ones that aren't.
Also I'd like to know if any of those kits will make you still have your guarantee and if not why and witch ones.
thx hope you appreciate my remarks. Mini Cooper S tuning WICKED SITE!!!
Well I'm glad you appreciate the site. 911ETR (and I a little at the begining) have worked hard to bring it to you.
As far as I know the Alpina MINI was scrapped due to costs. It simply became prohibitively expensive.
The reason why I originaly went with multiple currencies was that it was too hard to convert everything to USD, and the fact that exchange rates change.
As far as which mods will make you "lose your warantee" there is nobody that can tell you that specifically. If you have no mod-related difficulties, then *none* will make you lose your warantee. In short, it depends on how cool your dealer is about this type of thing. Now, some companies do offer their own warantee that picks up where the MINI one *might* leave off. A prime example of this would be Dinan, although they haven't released their MINI stuff yet.
I hope that helped explain some things, and I'm glad you like the site. Really thank 911ETR though. He's da man, baby!
I think it would be almost impossible for them to track parts applicability and conformance with laws around the world. They not only differ from country to country but sometimes within a country, for example in the USA, the Calif. and New York emission laws are often stricter than the national ones.
Some countries don't care what you do to the car after you own it, others only care if it affects emissions. Germanys TUV has to approve all modifications for road use. Many but not all racing classes require some type of catalytic converter.
You will have to do a little research on your area's regulations and then inquire with the parts distributor. In the USA, some performance parts, such as the Mini Mania turbo for the Cooper, are labeled for off road use only because they have not gone through the emissions certification process.
Too bad there is not one standard and a simple answer to your question.
