Superchager rebuild or replace.

Hello.

The other day my 2003 R53 Cooper S decided to over heat.

After some investigate and lots bit being removed it turned out to be the gears on the supercharger had dissolved into thin air.

I have just called MINI and they tell me replacement units are around £1200. Salvage units are £500 on eBay with 3 months warranty.

Ideally i would like to get mine reconditioned as i don't think there is much wrong with the compressor side of the charger.

Cheers

I'd certainly be looking at a reconditioned unit rather than new, but before anything is replaced and refitted is the engineer 100% sure as why this happened to your supercharger and that nothing else has been damaged during the overheat and what happened to the remains of the gears?

Nothing wrong with buying from Ebay but I'd make sure the seller is pretty local to you just in case you need to use that 3 month warranty!
