slight hesitation in 2nd gear

'03 MCS with 1400 miles so far. No major problems but i have noticed a sligt wavering hesitation at about 3,000 to 3.500 rpms in 2nd gear when i accelerate rapidly. Any ideas what might be causing this?

Do a search for yo-yo and read all about it. If you solve the problem, please let us and BMW know.

I've just had a software upgrade done 27th January, and I specifically asked for that to be fixed. It hasn't but it is lessened, and there's a noticable improvement in performance.

I asked the service guy at BMW why the yoyo and he says that it's the extra power from the supercharger coming in. I'm not sure that that's a reasonable answer, but that's what I got.

My experience is the same as yours and many others. You cannot smoothly accelerate in 2nd from 3k to 4.5k without the passenger being bounced around. It's fun for a while...

Our S 05 02 build had the same problem and eventually the software was upgraded and the fault has gone.

Other S's I have driven have the same fault. That was July last year.
