United-States Maxi-Tuner ECU and Pulley upgrade

My dealer in Germany is offering a Maxi-Tuner ECU and Pulley upgrade for $1250. They claim 195hp. I'm also considering their exhaust for $400 which should add another 5hp. All of these prices are installed out the door price. Any thoughts or comments on this. They have a mostly German web site at maxi-tuner.com.

I read several road tests about the Schmidt (maxi-tuner) MCS and it doesn't really come out as the best you can get in Germany at this moment. Read this article for example. Also their exhaust system seems to be a bit too loud.

If I were you I would try digi-tec (read three comparing road tests with them sofar and they came out best every time). I'm having a test drive this saturday in their MCS. The week thereafter I will have a go in the Hartge MCS what will probably be the one I will go for. It's a bit more expensive, but I expect it to be WILD

I'll report my findings next week

Can you try the link to the article again? The link goes to the Digi-tec web site in German. Any English language reviews? I've got the itch and I'd like to research the options. Do you think having it dealer installed helps at all?

Hmm, you're right it is no direct link to the article. Try this: clicl "PRESSESTIMMEN" on the top of the digi-tec page then go for the 7 th article form the top (Maximale Mini's). It's in German, but you can read the tables with the 0-60 figures etc.

Don't think it makes any difference whether your dealer installs it or Schmidt selfe. If your gear box crashes there will be still be a BMW warranty engineer who will look for what caused that...
