Hartge upgrade will the ECU be reset at a service ??

Click Here For my Report Posted On Evo Forum On My Hartge Conversion

Question, at a service is there any chance that they would reset the engine ECU losing the Hartge info ??

Is the service schedule computer different to the engine ecu ??

I asked the same question when I visited digi-tec last Saturday. They told me that the software theoretically could be resetted at a service, however they would have to do it on purpose and according to them most mechanics wouldn't know how to do it. 'Next Saturday I will visit Hartge and ask the same question

Very nice report on the EVO forum
****, you got me doubting again. I changed from 90% Hartge to 90% digi-tec after the test drive I had in their MCS. Having re-read EVO's report and now your report, I still don't know to be honest. Bottle neck will be the breathtaking top-end performance the Hartge seems to have and of course their over 30 years reputation as a first class BMW tuner.

You say Birds reccommands Optimax but that it also runs good on normal unleaded. Is normal 'unleaded' 95RON or 98RON? I'd expect you'd get a better mpg with Optimax as the ECU is adjusted to high Octane fuel. Consequently the ECU will supply more fuel to the engine when a lower octane is used

Cheers

I guess this depends on whether your dealer knows about the conversion.
Assuming he does not know, then yes theoretically your ecu could be overwritten, however, as previously posted, why would they be accessing the engine computer.
In my case it is well documented with my dealer that they do not go anywhere near the ecu, even to the stage when i have had my air bag light reset twice.
I am unsure as to wether the engine would start if they do over write it, hmm, i guess a call to birds is on the cards.

Like the write up, why don't you semd it to MINI2 as well, i know Paul is actively seeking reviews for the new section??
