I have a 2005, supercharged. I would like to make some upgrades on it, more power, exhaust and such. I don't really know where to begin... any suggestions for me!?
The best "bang for the buck" engine performance mod for the R53 is a 15-17% reduction supercharger pulley, a shorter drive belt and one-step colder spark plugs.
If you don't really want to be drawn into spending further, maybe limit the pulley to 15%, as there are many who will suggest a 17% requires an alternative intercooler. In my opinion it wants a tune too, and pinking/knock will more likely be present.
To just fit and go, the pulley works well. Personally I would invest in a map properly done anyway, as it will iron out fuelling the factory gave us.
You'll like the pulley swap, the car is just more fun everywhere.
But 1st put better brakes on it, the standard ones are barely adequate for a standard S.
1 brakes
2 pully
3 air filter
4 cat back exhaust
5 sport cat (dont decat, you will lose power)
You only need a better intercooler if you live in a hot country or you drive a high res for a long time.
