There has been some discussion on MCO about a new MINI Cooper S exhaust system and thought it would be helpful to attach the info and pics from the flyer I also received from NRP (sorry I couldn't get the actual page to upload so I copied the text below and attached the pics seperately.

See thread at MCO: http://www.minicooperonline.com/modu...&topic=6230&20

Is this any connection to the Techtonics system discussed on MCO?

Macncheese, I saw the post, and yes it is.

Techtronics as in VW/Audi tuning people? Or someone else?

Any mention of what this does for power etc?

Paul,
These guys are in the same area as TT (the VW guys) and I think that had some say in the design but I dont think its their's. I didnt ask any questions regarding power. I asked them to hold the phone up to it so I can hear what it sounds like. It sounded kind of like a... just kidding. I only asked for a price.

What about in the cabin? Did you ask him to take the phone, sit in it, and then rev it?

So, on a more serious note, why one pipe and silencer/muffler instead of the route most have taken with using two?

one muffler should be cheaper (doesn't seem so) and louder and have less back pressure than two mufflers, but the extra bends to get back out the center (instead of extiting to the side) will offset the gains.

My Roguish boy has the two mufflers and exits straight out at each side, avoiding the extra bends. About the same price, all stainless (ao course, I had to mod it to get it right...but I had a prototype)

If it is made by Techtonics, I'd be interested in learning more. They've done great stuff on the VW side.

Two mufflers in parallel will have less backpressure than one muffler, but will weigh more. I like the idea of a single resonator and a single muffler, with relatively large diameter tubing (2.5" or 2.75"). A cherry-bomb type resonator behind the cat and a single big end-inlet, side-outlet muffler would make an excellent system.
