I live in Cleveland Ohio but I would love to hear the details of the Cooper S conversion as well as if there is the option to have the parts sent to a local shop or dealer here to be installed.

Specifically (the usual questions):
What is the list of upgraded components?
What is the estimated power improvement (dyno charts are nice)?
What is the anticipated price?
Is there a warranty to cover new parts and/or the tranny (as it may fail under the added load)?

And if you don't want to publish all that here you can email me back at jwilson@neo.rr.com

Regards,
Jim

I should disclose that Zipkarts finally did return my calls. Very well informed. If we're lucky he'll post a few more tidbits here and there. He even insinuated he might be installing a JCW soon but I wonder if that ever came to pass with the package on hold until June (so I've been told).

He told me that the JCW install WAS scheduled for this week but alas, the parts never came in... As for the Hartge, you can actually order the kit from Hartge directly and they will ship it to your local BMW dealer to install. Unknown if they'll send it directly to you to do it yourself but I think the ECU tune alone is worth it.

I think the Hartge Kit requires 93 octane gas ... which is going to be tough to find in California

I have the same concern as MINIAC by being in CA. I've been running 91 since I got my MCS on Halloween '02 with no problems at all...

Oh well. Have fun guys!

93 octane is pretty easy to find here on the East Coast as I have to fill both cars with it weekly. Why so hard in California - it is because of the strict emissions standards?

you may not find 93, but ...

you can probably find a 76 station near you that has 100 octane racing gas, and give your tank a gallon or two to up the octane.

Gasoline in CA is tricky.

Here is an excerpt of something I just found:

What is California Cleaner Burning Gasoline?
California CBG is a type of reformulated gasoline designed to reduce emissions. It reduces the emissions of NOx and volatile organic compounds, has lower benzene and sulfur levels, and limits the amounts of aromatic and olefinic compounds in the blends. It is required throughout the state of California.

For more information on California CBG, visit the California Air Resources Board web site.

The cool link where this and other informative fuel info can be located here: http://www.mobil.com/USA-English/GFM...soline_FAQ.asp

Sorry for the off-topic talk...
