I was just out in the street fitting my chrome gill side vents (they look great - but I was disappoointed that they are plastic - foolish me thought they really were metal!) when I got talking to a guy who used to also have a Cooper. Anyway - to cut a long story short he still has a Pipercross Viper which he kept when he sold the MINI and was wondering if I wanted to buy it. It was only fitted for 4000 miles. He even offered it to me to try on a sale or return basis - seems like a nice guy!
My questions -
Should I buy it? (I think I know the answer to this one!)
Is it easy to fit - and is it easy to change back to the standard box?
How will this affect day to day driving? Is the difference only noticable at high revs?
What will happen to my MPG (already bad!!)?
What about my TLC?
Am I likely to get another speeding ticket if I fit it?

Should you buy it? - i would say yes its a good kit (and a seale unit so you will get the best)
Is it easy to fit? - Fairly, you need just a slight knowledge in mechanics.
How will this affect day to day driving? Is the difference only noticable at high revs? - The difference is noticable at all revs as the engine is more willing to respond to your inputs.
What will happen to my MPG (already bad!!)? - Your MPG should be fine, its your right foot that you need to worry about, its probably guaranteed to bee dtuck to the floor for a first few hundred miles.
What about my TLC? - Your TLC is a service package, BMW will service anything no matter what mods you have done. Your warranty is a different issue, and the reaction depends on your dealer, speak to them about it.
Am I likely to get another speeding ticket if I fit it? - You might do, but thats no fault of the induction kit, but only yourself (see 'right foot to the floor' above)
the reason why most peoples mpg goes down once fitted an induction kit is because you like the noise it makes with the throttle wide open so you keep it there more often than you used to before fitting it.
The cold air feed won't break on installation. It does need cutting, roughly about half way depending on the year of your MINI (i.e before or after 2004 are different), this is an easy process and a a knife will do the job.
