Black Cooper G-tech pro comp .. testing before and after mods

Picked up a G-tech Pro competition after I recieved my New MCS. so I headed over to a local streach of road (not public) to do some testing. Both before and after i did some modifcations. Did several runs each time and I tried to do them with the temp on the tach around the same each day (72 f). Now if someone can tell me how to get the information off the G-tech and on to the computer before the software is out i would be most gratful. but here goes.

2003 DS/W MCS, Basic model, only options Air con, and fog lights, Yes it has the 16 inch wheel package. used 2750 as the weight.

.................................................. ........outside
Stock...........supertrapps...S/C pully......temp 55f
ET.......15.594......15.056........14.620.......14 .399
speed.88.69mph.....92.33.........97.82........98.9 6
0-60....7.079.......6.509.........6.111........5.868
60'.....2.476........2.433.........2.474........2. 448
hp......111.7........124.7.........145.6........15 2.0
tq......112.6........131.1.........134.4........15 6.3

Launches were done at 2k stop light style(no spinning of tires) with asc+T off, Shift light set at 6500.

Supertrapps are 2 models 456-2280. Currently running 4 discs in both trapps

S/C pulley . From the great guys at helix13. On a side note to get there from Richmond, VA taking I-95N. I ran into $7.00 worth of tolls one way. but it was still worth it.

Comming soon Light weight wheels and tires which are due in next week.

Have Plans for LW flywheel, clutch, intake, Headers, Phantom grip, and Heads with cam. But with money being tight it may take me a while to get the funds built up.

Great numbers! So is it safe to assume then that you made your shifts at 6500 rpm? If so, do you think you would've got better numbers using a higher shift point?

From my experiences with shift lights you normaly end up shifting gears about 500rpm's after the shift light lights up. So, I'm guessing he was actually shifting around 7,000rpm.

its possible to get better numbers from better launches. as for the shift point as LuckyRva pointed out the shifts may have gone past the blinking light but i normaly do it by the tack right as its about to hit the first red mark. This mean first gear will go to 7,000 rpm rest are pretty consistant which the graph (off the g-tech) shows 6,610-6,730 per shift. If you noticed my 0-60 foot marks are relative the same no matter the mod. Its a way i learned to launch making it pretty consitant when doing bracket racing and unless i miss a shift my ets are normaly within .05 each time.

Excellent improvements! Any plans to take it to the strip to see how the runs compare to the g-tech data?

Jason

The GTech starts turning lights on 500rpm before the shift point to allow for this.

Andy Why yes i do plan on going to the Drag strip in June. Last year with my old car i particapated in the IMPORT Nationals event. Stock Eliminator class in which i won. I have to return to Defend my Title =). In that event the car was stock with just about every option except the cold package. After a few test runs we set the car dial in at 15.9 with the outside temp being 90+. Time slips varied from 15.9001 for the semi's to 15.9324. With the exception of two by runs that were at 15.743 and 17.892(for the win)in the mains since the other car broke and couldnt make it. Before going to this event i have the old G-tech and tested the car which said i could pull 15.4's

Oh one last thing on the data. you will notice i didnt variy the wieght of the car for the test. even though like the exhaust change and a few other minor things did make the car lighter. Doing this is great for comparisons but doesnt show True HP gains. Granted its only about 30 lbs difference but its still a difference. and like when i change rims and tires which doesnt change the HP but will show faster times and Higher HP numbers. Thought id just add that but it gets nick-picked.

Andy on your pressure drop measurements i see where Altamini chimed in about there intake. and i was wondering if you could do just one test at speed with that back hole blocked just out of courisity.

pretty impresive numbers on the g-tech.i just ran my car at englishtown raceway park 2.444 60 ft e.t. was 14.68 at 96 m.p.h. I had alot of tire spin so this week i hope to run a 14.4 or better. only time will tell but i think it's possible. I'll keep you posted. mods done to my car are helix 15% pully. magnaflow exhaust, and bmp intake.

If you are talking about a quaife diff the 60' times would drop a huge amount. But this mod is an expensive one.

It's not that bad when compared against an exhaust and take into account how much of a difference the diff should make. The Quailfe is $999 + around 8 hours to install. So your looking at $1500 or so. It's having to machine things to get them to fit that worries me.

When my warranty has gone totally bye bye I'd really consider this.

Paul

When they come out with a lower gear set (via final drives), I'll get the LSD. No need to pay for labor twice right?
