my car without pulley & ecu

i just took my car out for a test drive today (header, pipe & exhaust + intake) - i took out the 15%pulley & remapped ecu.

the power disappeared...but the sound is still there....my boost gauge only has a peak boost reading of 0.7bar (outside temp was 30c with 90%+ humidity.....) previous peak boost reading was 1.08bar or so.....and i hated my car so i dropped it off at my favourite garage after an hour of boring test drive and i told my mechanic to re-install the pulley & ecu IMMEDIATELY....

i'm not saying that the exhaust system is useless...pls. don't get me wrong....the system works much much better than the stock system when you have the pulley & ecu mod...coz i got the pulley & ecu before i got the exhaust system...

i'm waiting for my car to come back to life.

ecu & pulley is really the way to go

Hey SMG,

Thanks for your info's. I guess there's "NO GOING BACK" after you're used to driving with such mods.

BTW, did you change your wheels again? looks very nice, what kind are those?

SMG.
you should do the wheels in the same dark silver as the car!
now that would look hot!

Why did you take them out at the first place? You didn't just want to try the difference right?

With your collective knowledge with aftermarket performance parts and modifications to the MCS, could you please advice on which is the best path (considering dollars and effort required) to take on improving my MCS performance.

I had initially considered just a pulley upgrade, but having read some of the posted threads, I'm starting to reconsider.

I had read the reviews on the JCW MCS upgrade and it sounds great. It will be here in Australia soon, but my local dealer estimated an installed price of $11,000. That price is 22% of my original purchase price. Its way too expensive.

Unlike you folks in Europe and North America, I don't think we have much in the way of tuners and resources here in Sydney Australia.

Anyway, would appreciate your comments

Hi Amigo and welcome to MINI2

There has been an awful lot of discussion on this subject. I know that the Hartge upgrade is available in Australia, don't know if you already have taken a look in the Australian department ? Your fellow countrymen had some interesting discussions on this topic too.

Good luck

Hey guys

I'm getting the alta pulley + lata intake + ECU, do you think it will do the trick? also I will do the header and exhaust later(when I got the $$$).

Also what is the MPG will be after the mods?

I've heard that MPG doesn't change that much at all! I think if you do the TB mod, then one would be more apt to see such changes. Boring-out the block most definitely

and I'm yet to have any conversion done

Wishfull thinking would have my fuel economy improve after a conversion right?

In fact my mpg improved from 23 mpg before to 21 mpg after conversion. I also started to use 98RON after conversion so that helped too
