JCW Upgrade - Exact details...

Can anybody provide details as to the exact changes that occur when applying the JCW upgrade to the MCS?

What do you mean? Exact details of what is replaced have been discussed on here, published on here, and the John Cooper Works website (link in post above).

If there's anything un answered, I am sure we can help.

I was just comparing it against actual changes from other modifiers and so far it only appears to be about £1000 more expensive.

Some modification only remap the ECU and change the pulley. Others also change the supercharger, head unit and exhaust system...

It's not a simple case of Hartge is cheaper than JCW - you need to know what you're actually buying too.

Do you have an MCS works ?
Is the exhaust noticably more beefy than the stock version inside and out ?

Supercharger of the JCW is actually a 5th Gen Eaton (same as in the standard S) with a smaller pulley and an abrasive instead of a teflon coating on the rotors. Not that much difference really. Anyway, I think there has been more than enough discussion on the price of the JCW. Fact is that it seems to be a great kit and that people are prepared to pay the extra money for it.

Indeed I do have a JCW S.

I can't really comments as i've not driven a standard S for more than about 10 minutes. Visually they are noticably different

The JCW exhaust is not THAT much beefier in sound than the standard exhaust. It had to pass all the international drive-by regulations, so it's quite 'tame' for a performance exhaust. That said, it IS a bit beefier, and the sound is very nice indeed overall. Especially when coupled with the louder/deeper supercharger whine (which again, isn't a whole lot louder, but just enough so).

Hope that helps.
