They day's fully booked, so not much chance, but if we have any no shows then some people might get on, otherwise, time is already tight with our 14 vehicles.

See also UK social thread.

Here are some raw figures, we managed to get a few more cars on than we expected.

Nice, interesting stuff.

I quite like the look of the JCW Cooper on the charts, though the standard Cooper seems pretty well rounded.

What's up with that Minispares Cooper?

Thoughts...

Just a few thoughts/points.

We ran in the order on the social UK thread.

MINI One, MINI Cooper, MINI Cooper S, always a standard car first, we also managed to get a standard Cooper S on the rollers at the end, which helped to see what factor the heat was having, although they all had a whopping great(ish) 10bhp fan blowing onto the inter-cooler, apart from the MiniSport S with it's charger cooler.

The Dyno was last calibrated in January, and is as accurate a rolling road can be expected to be. The Cooper S figures seem high, but then the One figures seem OK (Abi's One is high, but the other two are possibly low). They said Cooper S cars often range from 161 to 190+ from the factory, where as the VW's and Audi's they also measure regularly are always pretty accurate (within 3 or 4 bhp either way) of stated figures!

The Hartge possibly suffered because the heat was up at the intake to the 60's, and their power seems to peak right at the end of the rev range, so possibly they missed out there.

The second standard Cooper S (with higher torque) runs Optimax all the time, this could be a factor?

The MINI One in standard form did better than one with a green intake, and compared well to the One with intake and exhaust!

I was impressed with the John Cooper Works MINI Cooper.

MiniSpares Cooper was half and half, so the figures didn't seem to much of a surprise to Simon.

The MiniSport S had troubles on it's first run with the development charger cooler, VERY cool idea (excuse the pun), and peaked at only 179.2 bhp, falling off badly around 4k rpm. A quick repair job, and it got much better figures second time round.

The Works S also did very well, around 40bhp over standard, as you would hope to see.

I'll try to get the report online ASAP with a few more details.

Thanks to AMD and all who attended for making it a top Dyno Day, looking forward to the next!

Paul

I take those results with a pinch of salt unless hp at the wheels were given...it's easy to get higher flywheel figures just by altering the drivetrain loss etc etc..

My Hartge Cooper S with full Milltek exhaust got 243hp flywheel hp on the AmD Dyno remember...so how come a car with the same spec as mine only made 218hp

I know mine hasnt got 243hp more like 210/220hp

Look forward to hearing other comments..

You should always take ALL dyno results with a pinch of salt. It's the comparisons on a day like this which are most important. The system automatically calibrates for the cars loss at 3,000 rpm on the warm up runs. Don't ask me how it works, but I am sure I could try to find out.

I think the reason the Hartge "under" performed (both of them) in comparison to the other tuned S's is the heat. The intake heat on them reached the high 60's, and the ECU will automatically start to hold things back in the 60's to 70's range so nothing goes pop. If you look, they 'peak' a little early too, and go rough at the end, where it seems the ECU is battling with itself.
