I just did my first engine mod today... installed the K&N 57i Filtercharger. This kit has no shroud around the conical filter. Is there an elevated risk of sucking water into the intake and blowing the engine? I never aim for puddles, but should I be wary even of heavy rain? The engine does seem more responsive and definitely has a more powerful sound, esp. under heavy acceleration.

If you get water up there something else would definitely be wrong IMHO. I have the K&N typoon on my cooper and I am not worried about it (and on the cooper its even closer to the front!)
