Brembo 4-pot big brakes

Originally, I was thinking of upgrading my Cooper S to EBC front disc rotors, Mintex 1144 pads, braided hoses all round, (keeping the brake fluid at the same rating). Hoping to fix my brake fade issue, make the brakes a bit more grabby; less spongy. So, I'm ringing around looking for somewhere that can supply and fit these.

Now, I'm just off the phone from AMD Technik, and they say they're now offering Brembo 4-pot big brake conversion for Cooper and Cooper S.

They're the calipers used on Seat Leon Cupra, and they're meant to fit under standard 17" S-Spoke wheels (although not yet clear if that's with / without spacers). Price is £1275 + VAT.

Does anybody have experience with these / any thoughts?

I heard Brembo were bringing out a new kit with thinner callipers which should fit a wider range of rims than the old ones. It should come with the same 320x28 rotors. Sounds like a good price to me.

They're really ace Andy. Very 'friendly' on normal road use, not hard from the top at all but harden up after "taking up the slack". Pedal feel has so much improved compared to stock. No fading even when they get really hot, like on the Ring in May. Fully satisfied with them

If they are the same as the Seat, why not see if they are cheaper thru a Seat dealership? They do look great on the Seat too...

I doubt you can bolt a SEAT calliper on a MINI though. Discs won't fit anyway cause of the bolt pattern

Hi Andy they will be good brakes funnily enough they are going to be the same ones I am using for my kit, there will have to be some adaptation for the S but for 1275+vat I think they are charging a little bit toooo much mine are no where near gonna cost that much . as qqq said the seats use 5 stud so custom discs and bells are being used on my end and the carriers I am waiting for them to come in so I can see if they fit I doubt it so I will have to make some new billet ones should be cool once its done though.

Liam

its all about the GG (or in this case the uhhh SCREW)

Anyone tried talking to HiSpec (http://www.hispecmotorsport.co.uk) about getting a brake kit from them?
They have a standard calliper and will CNC lathe an adaptor to fit many cars.

Have them on my other car with Mintex 1155s at the front and standard callipers with Mintex 1177s at the rear. Very progressive and stop very very well !!

P.

The Bold BMW cast onto the rear caliper housing might answer your question-or B<W emblazoned on the oil dipstcik?? I'm sure it appears elsewhere, too.

Back on topic: anyone find rotors wider than 28mm? I would love to find a 320x30 or 320x32 & calipers to fit. actually, even a smaller dia rotor that's 30 or 32 wide.

Our Touareg has 13"x1.25" (330 mm x 32 mm) but I don't think they'd fit on my MINI.
