Madness air intake filter oil

As I'm new at this, I have what is probably a dumb question. My Mini Madness air intake mod kit came with a spray can of Air Filter oil and a can of Filter cleaner. However, there are no instructions for use. I assume I should spray the filter with the oil b4 installation but am reluctant to do that without instructions. Can anyone advise me how to use the oil and the cleaner? How often do I use it? Any experienced help is greatly appreciated.

BTW, I love the new sound of the supercharger and I DO sense more power and no more missing in 4th, 5th and 6th gears.

Follow these K&N cleaning and oiling instructions and you should be fine.
When is simple. When it's dirty. Seriously, it depends on where you drive, how dirty your environment is, etc. If it looks nasty clean it although gauze filters actually work better when slightly dirty but that's a big can of worms

Randy at Webb Motorsport (formerly MINI Motorsport), explained the process to me this way. When the filter is oiled, it will have a pink color to it. When the filter starts looking more "greyish", that's when you need to clean it. When you clean it, the filter will turn white. When you re-oil it, the filter will again turn pink. I haven't been through this process yet, but it I like the color indicator of the filter's condition.
