Dog, Cat, & Mouse Chase in-car Track Video!

This last weekend a few of us rented the Fabi layout of the Shannonville road course in Ontario. We had all had a blast and I tried out my home made camera mount for the first time. The results came out very nicely. I took about 2 hours of total footage and this is one of the best runs. This was my first time running this layout so I had a tough time when I was leading the group. We had 8 MCSs and a WRX.

In the video we alternated taking the lead playing cat & mouse. Both the drivers you see in the video are amazing, the dark silver driver has over 14,000 km under his belt at Shannonville alone! (Ex-formula Ford Racer). Both of them were incredibly smooth. I was keeping up fairly well until I nailed a cone exiting out of turn One. Dragged it all the way to turn 3, you can see it sitting in the middle of the turn when I come around during my last lap. I've got a long way to go to get to their level cause you can tell I was getting tired mentally and making small mistakes.

I'll post pics of my mount setup later on tonight (it cost me CN$10). Hope you all enjoy the video. Let me know your thoughts.

It's a 29mb streaming quicktime file so make sure you have enough bandwidth
If it doesn't work try again in a couple of minutes as someone is probably downloading it

The Great Chase!

cheers,

Amit

Killer footy, Amit. And thanks for showing us the right way to get together and drive hard. How difficult was it to rent out the track? Both organizationally and $s? Seems like a great way for the people who want to be race car drivers to do it at least more safely than on the road.

Oh yeah, what's making the ticking sound when you brake?

with 10 guys it ended up costing us CN$80 per person for 4 1/2 hours but we got a deal because of the pro that was with us. The clanking is my passenger seatbelt that i forgot to buckle in.

For some reason I think my provider killed the link. I'm supposed to have unlimited bandwidth, i'll look into it tomorrow. If someone could host it for me in the meantime please drop me an email amit@btqfuzz.com

Louis...drop me an email and i'll put you on my lapping list. We are going to do this a lot more next year. I would advise you to do a driving school with a reputable car club first though, I could point you in the right direction. We are all pretty experienced and without the proper training you could seriously get hurt. We go out just to "agressively chase" each other and not race. We have a good group of guys and like to keep things very safe. Where in Montreal do you live?

cheers,

Amit

I know the cone incident was a little hairy, but I did what I learned at a driving school....keep your foot in it. I would have been a real goner if I hit the brakes.

On the straight I got into fourth gear so I hit around 100mph and then downshif into third for turn one. That turn may look slow but it's a good 60-70mph!

Amazing track, can't wait for next year.

Amit
