I want it to set off car alarms

In the absense of me selling my car next summer, I want to do a few more changes so that I can enjoy it again.

Basically I want to get her loud! I used to drive through car parks setting the car alarms off and the weedy JCW exhaust is starting to get on my nerves. Does anyone know where I can get custom made straight through pipes in the South of England?

Does anyone also have any other suggestions for getting my car to sound more like a racer? The power is ok but it doesn't put a tingle down my spine when I put my foot down as there is a slight hum from the back of the car

Cheers.

forget the exhaust, go for the massive ice install...
now that will set off some car alarms for sure, and at least you have the option of turning that down when the cops are around! hehehhe

ICE is boring I want a proper meaty car sound.

Surely there are ways to achieve this? Perhaps I could go to a custom exhaust shop and get them to make me a cat bypass pipe!

However, does this bring on any warning lights? Or have any adverse engine management issues?

proper meaty sports car sound on a 4 cylinder? not possible, it requires big iron to do it right.

You're not gonna get the sportscar sound out of a little 1.6 liter 4-cylinder. If you want the obnoxious ricer loud sound, you can have your battery box cut/modified so the exhaust doesn't have to go through bending around it and just run a straight pipe from the cat all the way back with no muffler. It'll be really loud and set off car alarms.

I beg to differ. My MCS with the Magnaflow has what I would classify as a "proper meaty sports car sound". The low tones just sound plain mean in the higher revs. Not to mention the really nice burble it's got when bringing the revs down.

I'd love to hear it with headers. It could only get better!

I set off car alarms with the Rogue exhaust on my Cooper...first time I did it I thought it was a fluke...but it is quite funny. And it does not sound ricey. At WOT, my car turns heads and probably shocks some when they see it coming from a MINI. Nice feeling actually.

The magnaflow system is supposed to be pretty loud - too loud for some! Do a search for it here and I'm sure you'll find some info. on it.

I've also read good things about the Borla, although I'm not sure how readily available it is over here.

The magnaflow:

Don't you just love those noisy cars that have huge exhausts and thumping music blasting out in the middle of the night when you are trying to sleep?

Thumping music? Do you assume I go around with thumping music blarring out??

In fact the reason for me wanting a more throaty sound is that prior to the Mini I had an Elise with straight through pipes, and prior to that I had a Caterham Superlight full racing 4 into 1 competition pipes. Both of these cars sounded fantastic and that was my type of "music".

All I want to do it get the Mini to sound as good as it can. I don't particulary want to lose my JCW tailpipes as I like the shotgun tip look of them, hence I was enquiring about straight through pipes, and / or possible manifolds.

My only really problem is that there are many options available for the MCS but when it comes to the MCS Works the exhaust layout is totally different. Therefore I am not sure if items that fit the standard exhaust layout, would fit the Works!

I'll second red03miniS's recommendation. The headers and no cat alone will make a large difference. Then see about the exhaust last. That way you can keep the tips you like.

I understand what you mean Chris. I bought this cat-back for my Cooper last week. I've been increasingly driving with my stereo off just so I can hear the exhaust better.

Get the UUC. I got it. It's got a deep, loud, throaty sound. When you drive through town it even echos off of a small one story building. It certainly doesn't sound like my MINI has a 4 cylinder any more!

DS/W MCS all packages, 19% pulley, larger injectors, GIAC ECU, Madness intake, UUC exhaust, Milltek Header
