Question about Alta Pulley and Intake Combo

I have the alta pulley and alta intake installed on my '03 MCS, installed at 10000miles and now at about 12000miles, and everything seems to be great. But when I accelerate around 2700RPMs I feel a slight stutter and jerkyness. Once I mash down on the accelerator it goes away. Has anyone with the same set up i've got experienced this?

Its not that big of a problem but I just want to know if I am in any way hurting my car since I am a college student on a tight budget.

All i have is pulley and intake.....and tinted windows and 4 aux lights.

Thanks in advance for any help possible.

Sounds like the infamous yo yo. Do a search in the Faults Forum.
Not bad for a tight budget.

thats interesting... im very interested in getting the alta products myself.
is your problem still happening???
i have a very uneducated opinion here... it might be possible that by adding a new exhaust system might help this.. ive heard from other people that when they installed an exhaust the yoyo went away..

how many hp increase are you getting from the intake and pulley??

cheers.. any pics of your car??

Exhaust didn't cure my yoyo
Alta intake didn't cure my yoyo
Both did make it go away for about 100 miles.
I'll be doing the pulley soon as well. I've given up on MINI fixing the problem.

I have read posts where any/all of these mods has cured the problem. Lucky them

I've gotten used to it as well. I guess what really bothers me is that some don't have it( jealousy ) and I have this itchy feeling that it's a symptom of somehting that is costing me HP. That REALLY bothers me.

No ECU at this time. Money for one reason but mainly none up the upgrades I've read about here and elsewhere inspire me all that much. Better things will come and hopefully for less than $600, yeesh

I've fixed most of my rattles

I have the Alta Pulley and Pilo Intake. You need to update your ECU at the dealer with the newest version # 36. This will give you smoother acceleration and make you MCS quicker off the line. This is the latest software which is used to correct yo yo and stumble problems. It works great I just had my dealer install it the other day. Try it you'll like it.

Are you saying you had the yo yo and 36 fixed it??
If so you're the first. I and others would be very interested in that bit of info.

I have the alta intake and pulley. It sounds like you are describing the infamous "yo-yo". I just had version 36 of the dealer software installed yesterday. I have not had a chance to do a ton of driving, but the yo-yo is still there. First impressions was that it was not as bad, but time will tell. The car does seem to drive a bit smoother with the v 36 software.

Happy Holidays,

Chili Red & White MCS. Alta 15% pulley, Alta intake, GIAC software coming soon..

BKWALKER,

The combo of the Alta intake and pulley make a huge difference in the car. I installed them both at the same time so I can't comment on how they work with one or the other, but together they work great. Much quicker and the sound of the intake and supercharger is oh so sweet. GIAC has been using my car to help develop software for the mini. There is definatley power to be gained through software tuning.

Chili Red & White MCS. Alta 15% pulley, Alta intake, GIAC software coming soon..
