Hello,

There's been a few threads on MINI over time about 1/4 mile run times and also 0-60 times of different MINIs.

I thought it would be good if we could start to try and compile people's different experiences.

I'd like to know results of timed 0-60 and/or 1/4 mile runs, and I'm sure a lot of others would like to hear too.

But please no "stop watch" figures, only results using testing equipment such as a member of the G-Tech family (http://www.gtechpro.com/) or the Race Technology range (http://www.race-technology.com/WebPage2/Products/Products.html) or a drag strip (http://www.santapod.com/), or other verified/trusted measuring device!

It would also be nice if people could post the specs of their car, the tempurature (if known), what mods have been done, fuel levels etc, so we can try and get an idea of how things really compare to each other.

This isn't a competition, but just a place to compile some facts that others might find useful. No "that's BS" or "mines better than yours" type talk please!

This isn't a "banter" thread either, sorry to sound a bit blunt, but we can discuss this thread and methods etc. elsewhere!

Thank you!

Also, in addition to this thread for 0-60 and 1/4 mile times, Andy has his own page of 1/4 mile times he's been compiling at:

http://www.ross-tech.net/andy/mini/...uartermile.html

That is for official drag strip times only, NOT those using other measuring/data capture tools.

At Sydney's WSID complex, my fully optioned and totally standard Cooper S did the following time:

60' 2.436
330' 6.560
660' 9.872 - 74.13mph
1000' 12.719
ET 15.141 - 92.34mph

Ambient temp was about 15-18 degrees C I think.

Oh, by the way, the car has 17x7" BBS RK rims and Yokohama AVS ES100 tyres, instead of 17" s-spokes and runflats.

*edit* Fuel was standard 98RON pump fuel, altitude was about 60m(?) and date was May 22 2004 :)
I went racing again tonight. Same wheels and tires, same fuel, same track, altitude is 90m (according to the sat nav :) ) ambient temp was about 25 degrees C, relative humidity was 75%

60' 2.263
330' 6.199
660' 9.428 - 75.76mph
1000' 12.207
ET 14.566 - 94.79mph

The car has two modifications now - 15% AmD Pulley, and AmD OneClick ECU remap. I'm happy with the time, but I think there's a tenth or two left in it - I did a 14.859 with a trap speed of 96.04mph :)

One thing I also learnt, I had the coolant temp displaying on the odometer, and when it was around 100-105 degrees C, the car was running slower times. I figured out that if I ran the engine with the a/c running for 5 mins before racing, the extra fan that the a/c compressor turns on was keeping the coolant temps at 90 degrees, and my times were better :) It was kind of humid though, and as I was staging the condensation was dripping from the car. I was nearly told I couldn't run because my car was "leaking" until I convinced them that it was just condensation from the a/c compressor

Excellent Tim!!

Look forward to catching up Saturday... my car is back to stock, so Im looking forward to running it soon!

Alternatively to bring your temp down, turn the heater on full and get out of the car... from memory this works.

I did a 15.9s 1/4 in my MCS April 2003 when I was down at Santa Pod. Terminal was just on 90mph IIIRC. Just found this thread and as I have been out playing with my new gtech comp. pro I thought I'd post up my current 0-60 times as I can't find a place to do 1/4s at the moment.

I did 4 runs 1 was much faster than this one a little slower and another almost the same.

60ft 2.643s
330ft 7.029s
1/8M 10.447@67.72mph

0-60 7.305s

Obviously ;) I had to take my foot off at 70mph as I was on a public road, but when I find a place to do 1/4s I'll be posting them up.

Wheels, standard OEM 16" five stars and runflats.
Temperature around 5C
Car completely standard and on 11000 miles so its well run in now.

Looking at the graphs I did awfully slow gear changes , I think I can shave almost 1/2 a second off this just by changing better and not hitting the limiter ....

Did some playing with my g-tech pro, more to follow however as I never got a good run in...

--Car is STOCK Cooper S, sport package, Sunroof, and All-Season Goodyear RSA Runflats(205/45-17) with 17" S-Lites.
--Driver 185 lbs, 1/8 tank of fuel, 93 Octane
--A/C off, DSC off

Temp was approx. 75F and altidude was sea level

0-60 time was 7.08 sec.

Smoked the tires at launch almost all the way to 2nd gear. I will do more runs and back it up and also try to get a 1/4 mile time in there, couldn't play too much as I was only trying out the gadget and had to go home.

2004 MC with K&N typhoon, screamin deamon coil pack, live wires plug wires, full miltek exhaust, and 17" BBS Rd wheels with 205/45 Supra Escata tires.

0-60 measure on Gtech pro:

1st = 7.82
2nd = 7.61
3rd = 7.66
cpearce, how did you get these times in your MC

Does those mods really make the MC perform that well........but how ?

good day at santa pod u.k..

lotsa wheel spin on all runs (4).everyone was griping.

best 1/4 mile :14.8 @98 miles /hour
temp: 9 ' C

cheers
That's a good time and terminal speed supercharged, well done :) Flying the MINI banner for the rest of us, hehe.

To put that time and terminal in perspective, that is significantly 'faster' than many civic type r's and Focus RSs I've seen at the Pod.

Also miles faster (terminal) than those pesky Renault cliosport cars :D

Keep up the good work!

must have been a lot of wheelspin - I did a 14.5 with a 94.7mph trap speed. Your trap speed is high! Keep practising at it, and your times should drop significantly!! :D

Can't wait for a 9 degree C day down here in Sydney...

2002 MCS, standard apart from Pipercross panel filter.
0-60 7.5 secs, dry road (rare in UK!) 1.5 deg C temp. 1/2 tank Shell Optimax, 1 passenger and a fat assed driver... :p
Tested with Gtech device.

Edit: 17" S Spokes, Runflats. Fair bit of wheelspin. Gonna bin these tyres soon, I hate them!

Found a time-slip from a Swedish strip called "Tullinge" ;)
Temp: about 20C
Best time-slip:
Reaction: 0,753s
60ft 2.395s
Speed 1/8 mile: 120.62km/h (74,95mph)
Time 1/8 mile: 9,713s
Time 1/4 mile: 14,887s
Speed 1/4 mile: 152.89 km/h / 95mph)

The grip was teribble, I have done 1/8 mile times of 9,3s on other tracks.
The best trap-speed of the day was 153,6km/h (95,44mph)
If I get the 60ft times better I think I can improve my time quite a bit :)

the car:
2003 mini Cooper S with a Kelleners Sport conversion (13% pulley, new software, new exhaust från the catalytic converter and back, pipercross intake)
:)

hi ROLAND.

i ran 14.80 sec @ 98 miles /hour.(santa pod) temp 9 C.

just 15% pulley/re map/ and typhoon induction kit.(214 bhp 192 lbs of torque ).

i am looking at getting a flowed head and high lift cam and your exhaust re-route pipe.
BUT... it seems that all those mods make little differance in the 1/4 mile times ???? :(

i was hoping to do 14.00 sec @1/4 mile with new components.

thanks

Went to Santa Pod for the first time today in my early '05 build JCW MCS with pretty much all extras apart from a sunroof. Running on 17" S-Spokes with Dunlop runflats. Full tank of BP ultimate. Temperature was 16 deg C. Using an ecu map from late last year.

My best run was:

Reaction - 0.751
60ft - 2.419
330ft - 6.362
1/8 mile - 9.604 @ 76.01mph
1000ft - 12.279
1/4 mile - 14.690 @ 96.80mph

Also did the following when I fluffed my 2nd to 3rd gearchange:

Reaction - 0.623
60ft - 2.396
330ft - 6.335
1/8 mile - 9.592 @ 75.48mph
1000ft - 12.278
1/4 mile - 14.700 @ 96.38mph

All in all, I was pretty happy with those numbers.

Just been out to try a few runs using my Gtech. Got a fantastic little bit of road nearby, about 1/3 mile long, dead straight, dead flat and always completely empty.

Standard 05 MCS with bullets, runflats. AC off, DSC off, 13degrees C, dry road. Just me in the car :)

4 runs.. (2 each way) 6.91, 6.68, 6.48, 6.61. Not too shabby! :D

On the same road in similar conditions, my old Golf GTI Turbo (mod'd 200hp) did 6.15 according to the Gtech, so the MINI aint far behind at all to 60! :D

Works GT

0-60 - 6.35
0-100 - 15.1
1/4 mile 14.85

GTech Pro

Will get better times with practice - this was only 2nd attempt. Some spin in 1st and 2nd.

Don't forget, GTechpro measures from the start of your run, it doesn't include 'reaction times' like you get at a drag strip.

The dragstrip doesn't include reaction time in your ET either. It's the amount of time from when you break the beams with your front tires at the start til you do the same at the end. You can sit at the line for 30 seconds and still run a 14 second ET.

thanks for clarifying that mate. Just I was surprised to see such a reasonable time from the Gtech, assumed that this was a factor.

Will get it below 6 seconds with some practise I'm sure.

0-100 - 15.1 Is a good time Tony, as you state 1st & 2nd is a problem, Thats why I dont bother...

as for the G-Tech depending on the version it may or maynot include Roll out which is a varring factor between the G-Tech and the strip. Also wheel spin, Violent shifts and suspension set ups will make loads a difference.
