installing the 15% or other pulleys, will it shorten the life of the supercharger, or the engine? Even before the end of the warranty? Also, will any autoshop or motorsport shop (with or without previous experience) able to install the pulley without ruining the car?

Having any shop do anything without previous experience is a horrible idea. Especially on a unique car like the MINI.

There's a few performance shops, as well as pulley parties that get scheduled, check out your local forum and see what your options are. That way you get an experience person to install your pulley.

The warranty is a time limit that MINI has set and feels comfortable with. It doesn't automatically relate to the reliability of the entire car, more of what customers expect, and what they hope to get. If you change the car, you're moving outside of the warranty anyway, so expecting something to last up to the warranty is pretty irrelevant.

With that said, lots of people have put on a 15% pulley and not had any problems. Especially given how similar the supercharger stock is vs the JCW one (search for info) which MINI does fully warranty with the reduction pulley. If you're so worried about problems though, you should do a lot of research and searching on here before you gamble, because there's always some risk.

agreed... dependent on where you are really.. i know at least helix does pullies...

pulley party there's no better person than to look for randy webb on webb motorsport... he travels around the country installing pullies...

check also your local club, some members also may have a very reliable shop did theirs.. one thing you want to be really careful of is how reliable is the shop..

If your in the toronto area and need a really reputable shop check out
Ultimate Racing. I'm not sure if they have experience with mini's, but johnson definately has experience in "go-fast" cars. Ask around on the net about them, most highend sports-car clubs know of his shop.

Also, wouldn't any capable domestic shop be able to do it? I mean, they're always working on supercharger setups and such? Wouldn't places like Agostino (big time vette shop) be able to do it?

The reality is that the Supercharger is the same one JCW or Standard. The M45 Eaton, and all they do is change it out calling it a JCW Supercharger. The only difference is that Eaton have made a later model that has a slightly different rear houseing and a different coating on the compression rotors. The JCW supercharger has a smaller pulley that equates to approx 15% reduction. (sorry i dont know the official figure but based on the boost it developes it should be about the same as your average 15%reduction pulley.)

in real terms by doing a Pulley your not killing the SC... its something the Factory does so why not do it alot cheaper!!!
