My upgrades..

Soon I will start to buff up my MCS for some extra juice on those boring days. Here are the mods I plan to get:

-ALTA Intake
-ALTA 15% reduction pulley
-Nology Hotwires
-ALTA Large air to air intercooler
-denso iridium spark plugs

Here are my questions though, When I get these parts I'm not sure which ECU upgrade to go with. Also, will it be ok to go with the 19% pulley because I have the larger intercooler??

I've been running the 19% pulley but still using the stock intercooler and stock ECU for some time now.. so yeah going to the 19% is fine. As for what ECU option to go with. "IF" you plan on going to the 15% then later changing to a 19% make sure with what ever ECU remap or kit you go with has the option to reprogram it for the extra changes down the road (perferably at no cost). Currently im liking the information im getting from the MTH guys over everyone else. But thats my opinion. Not to say the others aren't extremely well thought out.

Until we meet on the road

Thanks for the suggestions Mugami. I was looking at the UNIchip ECU upgrade at outmotoring.com, but I'm not too sure which ECU map I have to purchase. Each map has a different mod, but will it matter if I don't have the exact mods according to the ECU map? Does anyone have any other ECU product suggestion?

Mth's.. very inexpensive, all you need is a laptop with the software from them, a key code, and a obd reader with usb readout...

search for mth in mini2 and nam, there are better answers there

i've been running for 2 days, and it's already a noticeable difference even when the ecu hasn''t fully adapted yet!

intake and exhaust seems to be everyone's list... there are people who went to great lengths to see where else the mini can make good power, but with pulley, intake, exhaust and ecu u can probably push 200 hp

one mod i'd do imediately before power upgrade is sway bar... the rear sway bar beefs up the rear end and makes it ALOT more tail happy!

Exclamation

UNIchip or MTH depending on how extinsive your mods are going to be. Survey says more mods with finer tuning leads to UNIchip.

Swaybars are overrated IMO, especially for street use!!!

I've been reading about the MTH all over the place, and it seems like the best solution to my ECU problem. Now I'm coming to an argument over myself about whether to get an exhaust or not. If I do get an exhaust I think it will be the Borla, not to loud but still able to open up some restrictions from the stock exhaust. Does anyone have any suggestions on any other exhaust to use? If so, sound clips and personal experience is always welcome. Oh and can someone explain to me what the Catback is? I've always thought of it as a part of the exauhst, or is it a different part.

Cat-back means from the catalytic converter back ... center pipe with resonator,
Y-connector, mufflers and tips.

Borla makes two different mufflers ... the Sport version is loud.

Lots of info including sound clips in the FAQ on exhausts ...

i have the playmini/scorpion and it's great... it makes almost a misfiring system effect (lots of popping), and it doesn't drone unless im really heavy on the foot, but still brimming with life...

i hear miltek is the best for not too loud, and makes really good power
