Great review Leccy. Got my Mini booked in for Jan 29th 2005 with West Tuning after participating in your group buy. Wish I had the money to get it done now instead of having to wait 4 months Reading your review just makes me want it even more!

Dark Silver MCS with Aero Kit

Mods - ProMini Air Intake, West Tuning 215bhp Conversion (coming Jan 29th 2005)

Planned Mods - Milltek Exhaust

Thanks Neal. Bet you can't wait to get yours done now, trust me...you won't regret it

I've got a BMP air intake too, since having the conversion done, the supercharger sounds even louder!!!!

My advice would be to drive your car hard for the next 4 months to loosen the engine up, this means when you get the conversion you will be more likely to reach 215bhp, if you got any spare cash I would recommend getting the cam done too as this adds about 12+ bhp and improves both low and top end power. This is probably next on my list.

Cheers, LB.

Just went out for a quick blat, I feel like I'm getting used to the power already -NNNnooooooooo!!!!!!!! it still feels f'ing quick - more than enough to get you in trouble, I even got it to wheel spin chirp in 3rd gear on the whole it keeps traction very wheel though - can't wait to get the 18's though, I'm sure that will help with grip even more.

Quite tempted by the idea of a cam as this apparantly gives around 12+ bhp in the MCS and improves bottom end power - NICE!!!!

LB.

Car sounds great. Very nice to have that good a tuner so close.

18s won't help the grip. The tires would but wheels won't.
If the new tire/wheel combo weigh more than what you have now the handling will change as well. Not for the better.

The new wheels and tyres will weigh slightly less than my S-spokes. The tyres are also wider - 215/35/18 so this should help to improve traction, although traction at the moment is actually suprsingly good with the DSC turned off.

Be good to see your car on Sunday LB....Not putting a downer on the 18" wheels with the 215-35-18 tyres but do not expect better road handling or traction than the 17"...I would say definately lower the car on Eibachs or simular and a Swaybar change if you really want to make a big improvement... What are the Brembo's like?

See you Sunday

I've lowered my car already on eibachs

I didn't get Brembos, the budget couldn't stretch to that , it's on my list of 'To Do'

Do you pass through Woodford occasionaly? just looked in your photo gallery and I'm sure I've see your car around Charlie Browns roundabout and Chigwell Road.

See ya Sunday...it will be interesting to compare the West conversion against the Hartge on private roads of course

LB.

Definately not my car LB but I have seen another Hartge the same colour with the quad exhaust along the Woodford road towards the M11 perhaps its him/her...
The Eibachs are great dont you think but trust me get the swaybar changed for a complete improvement, no understeer, all oversteer, great fun...

Obviously it voids warranty right? But, how much does it cost?

It's a small world isn't it

I work right next to Charlie Browns roundabout and live just down the road, near the gas works. My cars quite distinctive (see my gallery). Flash if you see me.

Are you going to the run this Sunday. We're all meeting at the City Limits roundabout at 10am (see my signature link) if your'e up for it. I'll give you test drive in my car if you like so you know what your getting.

Cheers, LB.

Leccy! Were you flashed at about 2-3-or 4 am or maybe a bit later a little while back by a grey+white MCS right infront of Sound Advice? If that was you, then that was me! :O

Rasp, I know the details now so I might just turn up, would be awesome to have a go in Leccys car and know what im letting myself in for! the only problemo is that I might or might not get bladdered on Sat night in which case ill be unfit to drive but if not then im there!

There is much debate as to whether tuning actually voids the warranty. As far as I am aware it only voids that parts that have been replaced, however - all the mods are pretty much undetectable to the dealer

The conversion costs £1169 (inc VAT) although I got it cheaper because of the group buy.

Cheers, LB.
