Talking Jetex Laser Duplex Back Box

Hi Folks

Just new here but thought I should let you know of my experinece with the twin exit 90mm Jetex Exhaust.

I ordered it from a company in Newcastle, UK, called Revolution. I checked with my local BMW dealer ref the waranty. He stated that it would not effect the waranty in any way. Obviously the new exhaust is not covered by BMW. They were very helpfull. The total price including delivery to Northern Ireland was £263.00

The exhaust arrived 2 days later as a kit which was built up in a matter of minutes. I took it down to my local garage where it was installed within 2 hours.

Two things of note.

Firstly, the sparewheel had to be removed. I just went to halfords and bought one of the tyre inflation aerosol thingys.

Secondly, the mechanic was not keen on cutting the black plastic valance for the extra second exhaust pipe, but did do a good job in the end.

Oh yes. It sounds Bloody Brilliant!!! a deep burbling rumble, and of course it looks excellent.

I have noticed a small increse in power at about 4500 rpm but im not sure if that is possibly due to the noise making me think im going faster.!!

Hope this is helpfull

Billyrare

Is there any noticeable boom inside the cabin on acceleration? Also, are there any other mods required to the underside of the car to accept the exhaust?

Jetex Laser Duplex Back Box? Thats a pretty silly name. Almost as bad as "Intergalactic Cosmic Explosions" but not quite.

Tail pipe exits

I'm not really sold on the twim tailpipe (left & right systems). The mark of a Mini is having the pipes come out of the center! Out of the right side in the case of the Mini One, & Cooper is O.K. if your not wanting to buying a new rear trim valance, or wanting to keep the vehicle original looking. But for me it has to be out the center.
Dealing with the empty center space, on an "S" just to have left & right rear mufflers doesn't do it for me. If the manufacturer can't make the tailpipes exit the center they are most likely using universal muffler cans that don't allow the exits to make a correct turn to the center. There is not much room under the back of a Mini, so doing this will be a challenge.

Hi guys

The exhuast is noisier. Exhaust boom as you are talking about is noticable on at 5,500 rpm. There is a rich deep tone from the exhaust at normal speeds. I have a 4 month old baby who i put in the back seats and it doesnt give him any bother. At idle when you stand outside you would think there was a V8 under the hood!!.

This coupled with the induction kit gives a great throaty note which is just right.

As for fitting, when I got my mini I went for the spare wheel option. This had to be taken off to accomadate the new back box. I now have the run flat option which I swapped with my sisters mini. ( A two mini family!!!)

The exhaust is designed so that the right hand tail pipe goes through the original hole. The left hand pipe goes through a new hole which was very easily cut.The black plastic which the rear valance is made from is extremly thin and this was cut with a Junior Hacksaw than smoothed with a fine grade sandpaper.(5Mins work)

I did not want to go for a center exhaust as this would have left a strange hole on the right hand side where the oriinal exhaust went through and anyway it is very hard to get "Intergalactic Cosmic Explosions" if you do not use a twin exit system

Hope this is of use to you.

Can you not buy a new valance with a hole each side? Also- did you have to remove any of the plastic paneling stuff from under the car?
