Hi Eric, I do agree with you,and I have looked into this. One of the problems is that underneath those trims is an even punier pipe(s). To make a nice 'slash cut' or 'rolled in end',will mean you could easily see the 'inner pipes', which would look awful. I am still looking into this one,and although I can design something realy nice , in order to keep the length as is, and hide the' inner pipes' you would need to shorten them to get them out of view. This would then nessitate 100% seal between the pipes and the new trims,or you'll get that horrible blowing sound coming out the front end of it,behind the bumper. In the mean time check out the new Posh-MIni (GT Tuning Styling) Tailpipe surround. I put a thread up on exterior styling a couple of weeks ago . There are some pics. To my mind it makes the std pipes look 'less lost',and is a stylish mod without being 'max power magazine' .( If you know what I mean) ps I dont know whether the JCW tips would fit the stock MCS tailpipes? anyone? Regards Roland Gt Tuning

I do agree that it would be just getting worse if you would change the cover. although i think that those standart tips are quite good looking if you know that the covered pipe beneath it is a bit smaller. If anybody finds something better i myself might even change it. Always remember: Drive Fast AND Safe http://www.mini2.com/gallery/personal/18001/32352.jpg Soon with racing stripes

Thanks for your reply Roland. I agree with you, I know the pipes are very small in diameter, and realise the 'design issues' with this. I hardly dare visit a 'max power' type shop asking for something to fit these pipes. "I'm sorry sir, but we don't sell exhaust tips for lawn mowers" But it still amazes me no one has jumped this gap in the market. I'm a engineer myself and I'm pretty sure there are cost effective solutions for this. Your tailpipe surround looks nice. Is there maybe a less close up picture available ? That would show it better in comparison with the whole back end.

Likewise chaps, I am on a constant search for something to replace the standard tips. I wrote my 1 Series M Sport Convertible off last week and have now ordered a MCS Convertible in Black (White Bonnet Stripes) with the Chilli and Sport pack and tons of other stuff. Very excited as wanted an MCS for years, but had to wait for the little one to get a little bit older. May do the sensible thing and wait till it arrives before I start guessing - cheers
