United-Kingdom Possibility of a Brembo Brake Conversion

As per the title really. Just seeing how much interest there would be in arranging a group buy for a Brembo Big Brake conversion kit for the Mini.

I have been in touch with the very nice people at Red Dot Racing after a colleague has recently purchased a Brembo kit for his Subaru Imprezza. Red Dot Racing were kind enough to arrange a group buy for Scooby Net Members and would be willing to do the same for us if there is enough interest.

I am just looking for initial interest at the moment. The cost is going to be substantially lower than the retail price of the Brembo kit and Red Dot also offer a fitting service for those who dont feel up to butchering their pride and joys

Post in here and let me know if you are interested. Once I have an idea of numbers I will get back to Red Dot and see what kind of discount we can get.

Sorry for not posting this information in my original post, but I just wanted to make certain of a few details first.

The cost of the kit will be £810 +VAT. This represents a saving of approximately £400 on the full retail price of this particular kit. The more people that are interested in taking part, the stronger position we are in for getting a lower price.

Red Dot offer a fitting service for these calipers which comes to £117.50.

The kit would include 2 x 320x28mm discs, 2 x 4 pot Brembo calipers, 2 x brake hoses and mounts for the calipers.

In order for these to fit the Mini, 17" rims are required. Some third party rims will provide sufficient clearance for the larger calipers, however some (including the Mini S Spoke rims) will require the use of spacers to provide clearance. Red Dot offer a kit that will minimise the size of spacer required. They have forwarded me a copy of the fitting instructions and I will pass it on to anyone that is interested.

I understand that this is a reasonably expensive upgrade, however big brakes are defintely worth the expense. The advantage that they offer in improved stopping distance is easily worth around 40BHP as they allow you to brake later and harder.

Anyone interested post in here and once I have a list of numbers I will get back in touch and see if I can get a bit more money off the total cost.

Hope this is of help.

can we also consider rear calipers, and so that all calipers are red. i would like red calipers.

what pads ?

can we get drilled, cross scored, or smooth ?

what options exist for brake hoses in this package ?

what brake fluid will we use ?

is there a cost for all of this as a package ?

getting fully adjustable suspension, JCW manifold and cat, 18" Dare X4's with Toyo r-1, so may as go for brembos too. they will look good on my MCS Works.

Too many mods to list, PM me if the cat needs killing...

Is there any chance just to get the bracket for the calipers, list of part # (so I can gather these parts over here in Oz and have warranty too) and the installation instructions?

Looking into what seems to be an excelent bit of kit from West Tuning, what he is doing is combining the best of the AP Racing kit, the calipers with the best part of the Brembo kit the discs, they asure me that it works very well indeed, alot better than the Brembo or the AP kits on there own, I will get more imfo from them and post...
