Has anyone come accross or know of anyone offering a Turbo or Supercharger for a standard Cooper. Neither would be particularly difficult to install in principle and the power gain would be massive.
A true bolt-on turbo conversion, that can be reversed later if required. Battery relocated to the boot to free up space. Conversion features ultra reliable Garrett turbo which in this application boosts up to 7psi. More than enough to waste a standard Cooper S, and the dump valve is just so much cooler. The standard High compression engine of the Cooper and One means the car is far more driveable than the sluggish Standard Cooper S off boost.
have you seen the cars Autofashion have bought out in the past? i'm leaving this one well alone.
there are other kits out that will give a reliable 30% increase in power (tuneable to over 200bhp) and not knacker the gear box (untuned), and run at a safe 6psi too.
They claim to increase HP by a 'staggering 30%', which on a std cooper of 115 bhp is an extra 34.5 bhp giving a total of approx 150 bhp. This figure been achievable by other means, some of which many cooper and one owners will have done already, so the turbo conversion would not seem a tempting option at £2500!! Or would it???? I have already spent perhaps half this and getting 136bhp so for an an extra 14 horses at a cost of £2500 it is by no means appealing to me!! Give me 200 bhp and I would be tempted!!!
