Forge Motorsports Top Mount IC

Here in the States, I just became aware of this IC:

http://www.forgemotorsport.co.uk/con...oduct=FMMININT

Anyone have this yet? If so, I'd love to know your impressions, and also if it extends over the spark plugs, making removal necessary when pulling the plugs...

Thanks much!

Forge make good stuff. They had a good rep from the TT stuff they did, so you could expect more of the same.

Consider also the GRS Intercooler (£399 incl. VAT), getting good write ups. There was an offer at one point for Mini2 forum users to get 10% discount. Dunno if this is still running, but that would make it cheaper than the Forge!

GTT also do one, which (they say), is a higher quality. However, I personally don't think that it's worth the expense - you'd get much the same bang for you buck with the GRS, I would have thought. GTT's is £399 + VAT). http://www.gtt.uk.com/parts1.asp. However, if you're ready to pay for "the best of the best", then this would be the one for you.

IF the picture with the hood open was their "test" setup, THEN this is a bogus test, just like the tests of the CAI designs that seal against the upper hood with the hood open are bogus compared to the stock setup.

ohmygodohmygodohmygod, questioning a vendor claim that isn't M7. nobody ever does that, M7 is the only vendor who ever gets questioned...

Indeed, the hood closed seems to make more sense for such an evalution. But, all dynos I've seen have had the hood open though...

Temp probes, pre and post, incluing IAT should also be telling. And if 10 or so hp is gained, times should be improved also.

If anyone gets one, please post pics, especially one with a view throgh the hood scoop

Nice photos! Thanks for sharing CoryB .

If he has a shot with the hood or bonnet closed, that would be most appreciated. Also, one from the back side, where the spark plug wires are located...

I appreciate you sharing the link!

Obe

Gomini had an article on fitting thee forge intercooler, it looks great, but they had a photo lookng through the scoop, it virtually blocked it. You could clearly read the logo on the side- seems a bit daft.

Drat, that was the concern, and the reason for a dyno test (in this case) with a closed hood. Real-world airflow will not not be optimized if indeed it blocks the openning. We shall see... Thanks for PM'ing him!

That.....is not good.
Then again I just ordered the GRS unit so I'm feeling better about that now.
Finding one much cheaper the day after I ordered was a bit depressing .

Come on Tony....buy the GRS.........after I guinea pig it for you

obe, you've made a wise choice, from what i can tell! just in time for summer . I might see Randy next week if all goes as planned. I'm going to probe his mind about the whole IC scene, including the RMS unit, and possibly a new FMIC in the works...

I do expect a thorugh report of the install, and eval soon

You got it

Going to bring a spray bottle with me for auto-x this summer. Missed some events due to illness and obligations. Can't wait to get back.

I've had the FMS (Forge Motorsport) top mount IC for about two months now. The install is really quick and simple. You must remove the stock plastic diverter. Forge does not mention installing some foam to create a seal, but that's what I did. I have a perfect seal (using marine grade foam) around the new IC.

The main problem with this IC is that it does sit too high. A simple solution is to bend the brackets so that it sits lower. This unit does not cover up the spark plug holes nor does it foul up the wires.

A truly high quality unit at a great price. I hope to have some data to share in the near future regarding IAT, MAP, etc.
