DIY Crank pulley question.

Hi guys, I would like your opinions on the merits of fitting an underdrive crank pulley to a standard (apart from Pipercross ind kit) 2002 Cooper S, I have seen them for sale on eBay recently and they appeal to me for 2 reasons, they are lighter (lots lighter) and they appear to give a small increase to the supercharger speed. See eBay here.
What do you reckon? Worth it, or a sack o' crap?

Cheers folks,
Al

Looking at the pictures and knowing the quality of stuff that is usually being flogged on ebay, I would say that this is what you describe as a sack of cra$. The crank pulley is a very (!) important part of your engine, and I wouldn't go sticking something that resembles cardboard wrapped in tin foil on your car!

If you want a properly engineered product with very exact tolerances which won't mess up your engine and is bound to last longer than a 'ebay special,' take a look at the GT Tuning lightened crank pulley. The quality is astonishing and is pretty good value compared to the ebay item considering you'll have to pay VAT, shipping and then probably have a wrecked engine for all your troubles going the 'cheaper' route.

Do the right thing for you MINI!

GTT crank pulley (3rd item down)

I don't think a smaller crankshaft pully would make the supercharger turn faster, would it?

You are right. An oversized crank size pulley would have the same effect of decreasing the diameter of the supercharger pulley, but not the other way round.

Underdrives also mess with your charging system and AC compressor. Unless you get the correct pulleys for them.
