Hi, I've just bought a 2003 Cooper S (see my hello thread in the general section) and am thinking about the 220 BHP upgrade. I don't suppose there is anyone in the North West who has a 220bhp cooper S who is willing to take me for a little ride to see if its worth the bother. I have obviously read good things about the upgrades but am being cautious becasue the two tuners I am thinking of are 200-300 miles away and I'm concerned that I won't notice all that much difference. I'm in Preston, Lancs but work in Manchester but can travel on a weekend if you are not very near these. The two tuners I have my eye on are GT Tuning and BBR and I haven't really made my mind up yet which one to go for. In my mind, BBR has a better name (I've heard of them anyway) and yet GT Tuning is cheaper and has a good reputation on these boards. I know its been discussed before but does anyone have an opinion on these two. I don't suppose there are any good tuners in the North West....I'm concerned that if anything goes wrong, its a long way to go to have it looked at (especially if the car has a problem). Cheers Guys and Gals....

You could give Minisport a try, they do 200, 220,235 and 250bhp conversions and they are up North like us Padiham in Lancs to be exact.Click here to see their range. Al.

Thanks, I've been on Minisport's site before and they are just up the road but as a cost comparison, they are about £1000 more for 220 than GT Tuning and way over what I wanted to spend. Convenient though I must agree Thanks for the offer Andeh. I may take you up on it if I can't get a 220 BBR or GGT demo as I'm sure it about the same to drive.

hiya, i live in Chorley. I would be happy to take you for a spin in my BBR 220 cooper s although i have had a few mods done on top of the 220 conversion such as pipercross cam and big valve head, play mini exhaust. Email me at winkerwink21@msn.com if your interested Mark

I said... "I work in Manchester, not got 220 BHP but an 05 Works 210 if thats any use "Works 210 although I want to get a larger intercooler & gtt sports manifold which may well take it closer to 220 BHP

Just wanted to say a big thanks to Speedman who met me at the weekend and took me for s spin. What an amazing car and seeing as it was 30 degrees and it wasn't running as it should, that car can 'alf shift. Still hasn't persuaded me one way or the other as I've got insurance hikes, second hand sale problems etc going through my head as well. I know my car is geing sold before the summer next year so may be throwing money away. I'm going to sleep on it.

Yeah, thanks andy, glad you liked it. If you like i can meet you again once its a bit cooler. the heat was robbing about 30+ bhp, i also fitted an AP racing big brake kit yesterday so the car now stops as fast as it goes. that annoying squeel has now gone too, YAAY! . Glad to meet you andy, good luck with your selection. As its mainly straight line speed your after i'd consider a cam, 19% pulley, Big Valve head, a larger intercooler, and a manifold. that ought to make your car a screamer.
