05 stock MCS exhaust sound vs. JCW exhaust - pops or no??

Can anyone tell me the final word on this? I seem to get contradictory answers from scanning the other posts...I either find comparisons between the 04 MCS stock sound (which is of course different) and the JCW, or comments about exhausts other than JCW.

What I would like to know is, if I replace my stock MCS 2005 exhaust (with all it's lovely pops and burbly backfire sounds) with a JCW catback exhaust (with resonator intact), will I still get the burbles and backfire sounds on overrrun or engine braking? Surely others out there have done this, and is there a big difference? Does the JCW provide less, or more sound, or just more "refined" sound in comparison with the stock exhaust?

I know that there are other exhausts out there I could have used, but JCW is what I have sitting in my garage, due to be installed in three weeks, and so am interested in only this comparison.

JCW exhaust is louder but otherwise similar overrun pops

You can hear it, but its very subtle. Not quite as loud as the noise I get from the Ansa split free flow on my TR6, but its there. I also note that the rear deck panel helps to "channel" some of the noise to the interior, but I'm not sure how that works in the convertible.

Early is on time; On time is late.

The JCW cars I've driven have been louder than standard.

I had an 05 MCSC, loved all the pops and burbles that this had compared to my 03 MCS

Yes noticed the big difference between years of build and preffered the 05 grin factor from this

Then added a JCW package to the 05 MCSC, the exhaust gets better It still pops in the same places when on decrease in revs at about 3200rpm, in fact I would say it burbles more than pops now, its more of a flat note, more sporty sounding and far more addictive to the standard exhaust note on the 05 MCS.

I hope this helps to clear up the original question

Yes, thank you! It seems to me, that the consensus is that there are less of the backfire pops and more of the burbles. That may be OK, actually, since it sounds like most of you are very happy with the sound!

Funny, I could swear that ever since my JCW airbox was put on, I hear less of the pops that I did before. Maybe that's my imagination, since I don't think the engine was remapped or anything (tho I don't know for sure!) It was only Tuesday that it was put on, so maybe I am being hasty - but it does seem to be the case. I'll have to try and make them happen and see what I hear...
