the performance shop wants to add a 700$ re-map to my ECU.. he says that it is horrid for the engine wiht out it

19% reduction 138 (pulley)

+700 ECu upgrade.

I don't plan to keep this ccar more than a year (05' cooper S)

preferably with the 19% you should have the 400cc injectors and get an MTH remap for half the price.

While an ECU remap is required if you add larger injectors along with a 19% pulley, one is NOT required for just the 19% pulley by itself.

Helix offers the GIAC (19% pulley + larger injector) remap for $325.

Speed Density ECU's, which use MAP sensors to calculate air weight, adapt to boost changes automatically. Your performance shop is trying to rip you off by claiming the engine won't run properly without the ECU re-tune. That said, a proper re-tune will improve HP and torque, but it's certainly not a requirement.

If all your changing is the s/c pulley, the stock injectors have enough capacity even in high-IAT fuel-dump mode. No need to change them unless you're pushing over 220cHP.

Cheers,
Ryan
