2005 MCS Engine Technical Data?

I was wondering if anyone knew off the top of their head what the engine designation is for the i4 16v engine that comes in the MCS. Also maybe where one could find all the part numbers for components (ie pistons, intake man, exhaust man, valves, etc.) I know its a Brazilian Made Chrysler Hex, but that's about it.

Check out realOEM.com It's a BMW parts website and on the opening page it doesn't look like you would find anything regarding the MINI. If you put in your vin # it will bring you to the page for your MINI and then you can look up the the various parts broken down by system (also has schematic drawings).

Not sure if that is what you are looking for...

DIY Transmission Re-build

Hi Folks...

A master welder did some great work to make my transmission's bell housing whole again, after a 1" crack (another story). My mechanic recommends new bearings within the trannie (since there were metal particles within the trannie). However, MINI apparently does NOT list a main shaft bearing nor a Culner bearing in its part list, saying that the transmission is not servicable

1. To avoid a trannie replacement, does anyone know of a source for these bearings?

2. Considering a very short running time from "crack" to stop, would anyone comment on the need for all bearings to be replaced IF there aren't any visible strafings on the bearings?

My 2004 MCS has 86k miles and has a modified trannie (with Quaiffe LSD, road/track performance clutch and lightweight flywheel). Thank you...
