I like my commuter cars hardcore enough to make good track day cars as well, however this often means bad gas mileage. This could be the thing that is sharp enough to keep a smile on my face everyday, but since it does it with lightweight I can feel better about not wasting so much fuel on my commute. I sure hope it comes to the US and is less than 2450 pounds (and less than say... $32k).

Lightweight MCS news Okay everyone, please don't verbally abuse me if any of this is old news, but I thought it might be interesting info to some. Yesterday, I had MINI employee at my house. (Removed details to protect source - Paul) Anyways, we got talking about the next MINI as well as this supposed lightweight version for the current model. He didn't tell me much, but this is what he did say: - This lightweight MINI is defo planned but not defo confirmed for production yet. They are currently sorting out contracts of sorts. - It will have various aluminium body panels. - It'll be made in Italy (or at least some of the parts - he wasn't very clear on this). - It'll be styled by Bertone (in Italy) Then a few things about the next MINI, which you probably all already know: - It's set to be released September 2006 - The next S will defo be turbocharged At the mo, he told me he's making lots of trips over to Italy to sort out this lightweight MCS! Don't ask me anything else, as I simply don't know...although I do have his phone number... James P.S. Once again, sorry if any/all of this is old news.

That certainly pretty much adds up to what I know/have been told. I could go a little further but I'd rather not. I've removed the person's job/position in MINI as you don't want to get them in trouble, and it's highly likely if it's posted on MINI2! I've also merged your post with the current Lightweight MCS thread in the future variants forum.
